  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
We are a much better team with KO on the floor.
Our starting 5 has a net rating of +6.9.
When swapping out Amir for Olynyk and we have the best lineup so far for the season at +22.8.

His defense is good enough now that he can guard most NBA 4's and 5's and it's his help defense that shines above all else.

I wonder if they are keeping KO to 20 minutes a night because he's an RFA and they want to keep opposing offers as low as possible?

No he will not.  KO is soft and can't rebound, he is not a starter.

Move ihim to Phillys bench for Noel

He is a big with NO big skills we need .

We need interior rebounding and defense , someone physical , not somebody who avoids contact.

I have mixed feelings about Kelly. He looks terrible, but his plus and minus is usually good. If only he would learn to shoot a hook shot, he would be so much better.

he can shoot and pass well, thats about it.
Poor rebounder, defender
Terrible on post ups

I dont think he will ever be a quality starter

Olynyk strikes me as a guy who is still waiting to break through. Maybe some minutes with the starters will help push him there.

However if the playoffs started today I'm going with Jerebko over Olynyk. I like Jerebko's gritty play.

He's not a terrible defender. He's a good defender.
With him in the starting line up instead of Amir we are a net rating of +28.3 and when Amir is on with the other 4 their rating is +6.9

I think several posters brushed right over these stats in your initial post.

I certainly wouldn't mind giving him a shot, but the Cs are playing so well right now that I doubt Brad will make a move to the starting line-up even though the stats seems to back this up.

We really need to see what we have in KO before deciding whether or not to re-sign him in the off-season. I also wouldn't mind driving Amir's value down a little - to the point where he might be able to be kept for something like the room exception when we max out our cap space. He likes playing in Boston and would be an amazing big off the bench for our next title contender - maybe he'll give us a discount.

If he is doing so well coming off the bench, then I don't see a reason to move him to the starting lineup.

Those stats are interesting but maybe they are a result of him playing more against opponents bench players than Amir...maybe?

I'm not sure if you're underestimating Kelly's rebounding ability or overestimating the team's rebounding ability, but he actually has the second highest defensive rebound % on the team (only behind Bradley)
I'm bitter.

KO is the smallest 7 footer in the league. Can't jump. Almost useless around the basket. He's another one of those perimeter big men Stevens seems to love. I don't believe those defense numbers. They don't seem to correlate with what you actually see when you watch a game.
I see a guy who can't play in the paint. He really wants to be a PG.

The traditional task of big men is to get the ball. The Celtics don't have enough of those.

That's my view of him, which gets reinforced every time I watch him. I don't think he'll get re-signed.
