That pace would put us towards the top including Cleveland and Golden State. I concede there is a big difference between regular season and playoffs. It's akin to the D-League. There is no credit for doing well there. It only means something if a player is mediocre or worse.
No, the great pace when healthy doesn't make us a championship contender. However, if they weren't performing this well during the regular season, we'd be back to saying we are three players away or some number like that. We'd be crying about Cousins and Butler somewhere over the rainbow. Some people are still like that. Not me. I can wait by the month, by the half year, from year to year. Danny said sometimes the best move is doing nothing. That sounds like what I just said. Change is going to happen whether we like it or not. Philadelphia talks about the process, but we don't have a solid process in development as good as anyone?
There is always a next team in line for the throne. That is the Boston Celtics. Danny pulled it off. He lucked out with Brooklyn big time.
Fans are starting to come around and see that we are not so far away from truly contending. If we win 55 games, folks are not going to care if a lot of them weren't so impressive, such as close escapes with Philly.
Our team was under pressure to pile up wins and that's exactly what they have just done.
All indications are that we have made the leap from mediocre good to above average good.
It will hurt if Avery has a serious injury. Hopefully he will be back and 100% healthy.
I can't see Danny doing nothing, but he really doesn't have to do anything major. There seem to be a lot of centers available in trades. Zeller can't do it. He had every opportunity to fill the need. Currently Amir Johnson has stepped forward to play the big man role.
I think Danny should add a center. If that means Zizac, then bring him in. We need a bruising, tough big center so we don't have to rely on David versus Goliath scenarios.
Horford and Olynyk are more finesse than tough. They are not chopped liver for centers, but we all know we are missing a bit of center grit. It doesn't have to be Cousins. A lot of the games we don't seem to even need another center. But we know we do. Horford and Olynyk could then play more power forward.
The trading deadline is getting closer and closer.
Only four games to go and half the season will have been completed.
The last two games were sluggish. Hopefully we are in good spirits for the showdown in Toronto. That will be the opposite of a cupcake game.
Beating bad teams doesn't seem to prove much. They only help to prove we are above average for a good team. They solidify that we are a top eight NBA team. They don't prove we can be scary good when the pressure will truly be on. On the other hand, there's no reason to expect the worst. I saw some Celtics Bloggers are worried about the Bucks who we'd face if the season had ended. Show a bit more faith than that, please.
Danny does need to do something, even if it's just a little maneuver or two, or else it will be fairly much pipe dreaming to expect 100% health and stamina, the current precursors to whether or not we will become the team no one wants to face in the playoffs.
We learned the last two years that if we are not healthy, we don't have enough talent to overcome being banged up. We did not learn that we are a lousy playoff team. Save that for the Clippers who proved that about themselves.
We need the additional center as much to be able to preserve Horford and Johnson as to grow the team. They will be a big part of any Cinderella dreams. It'd be nice to be able to throw a youngish Perk type center in there for fifteen minutes or more against teams with giants. Then Horford, Amir and Olynyk can do their things and not be expected to do so much outside of their general niches.
Jared Sullinger at six foot eight or nine weighing 300 pounds was a better center than Zeller.
Guys collecting charity money at the end of the bench need to leave. That's not Celtic's Pride. Sullinger betrayed us by becoming fat. Tyler Zeller betrayed us by never improving at center defense.
