Fair to say Marcus Smart can grow into a "Tony Allen" piece with a bit more offense?

And Tony Allen was a big part of the championship team as well.
He's overtaken TA easily.

I'd be interested in knowing how many times Marcus has stolen the ball defending 1:1.   If he's not a league leader per minute in that category I'll be surprised.  He is so tough and hands are so quick.  And he's 22. Hope the rest of his development is as a Celtic.

But but Randle... LOL
He's a better player. Smart is having a good night. Randle is a better player.

Smart is the better player. Randle only plays one side of the ball and not even well. I take Marcus all day every day!
Marcus also only plays one side of the ball. Randle averages 3.8 assists from the power forward spot passing to young players. Smart averages 4.4 from the combo guard spot passing to three all stars.
Randle was the better player yesterday. He is today. He will be tomorrow.

I wouldn't trade Marcus straight up for Randle, but I prefer players with heart and hustle. Randle is a perfect Lakers player.
Smart lacks the heart and hustle to work hard enough in the off season to improve his shooting to anything better than one of the worst shooting guards in the league.  Scala had heart and hustle. But at some point you need basic skills too.

Well, he did adjust his form this offseason.  The results aren't there yet in terms of shooting consistency, but on a positive note he's been automatic from the FT line of late.  More reps and hopefully his %ages improve.

He has improved this year, though. He's still not up to league average, but he's jumped up from 25% to 29%, which is a big increase for one offseason

Edit: he's also automatic from the corner (seriously, he shoots 50% on corner 3s)
I'm bitter.
