The 76ers have waived Hollis Thompson. He can shoot 3's, but little else. Will Celtics or anyone else sign him?

Well, that gives him at least one more NBA skill than James Young.  I'd think about taking a shot at him, but I think he'll end up somewhere that he can get minutes (probably the DLeague)
I'm bitter.

It's pretty funny we had a thread a few years ago where posters were comparing the 76ers role players to the Celtics role players and saying they were interchangeable. I remember Henry sims, Jakarr Sampson, tony wrote and Thompson all being held up as good role players that would play for any team and were interchangeable with Jae crowder. I believe at the moment all 4 are out of the league.

His salary was fully guaranteed on January 10th and the Sixers have just 1 PG on the roster.  10 day contracts begin soon, so the Sixers will be adding a PG in the near future.  This also allows Luwawu to get more minutes.

As for Thompson, I would expect a team looking for a shooter will sign him, but it may not be for a few weeks once trades start happening and teams start opening roster spots.

I'm a little bit surprised, since you'd think the Sixers would want to hold onto cheap shooters.  But then again, the dude can't do anything besides hit spot up jumpers.  Not sure if he'll catch on anywhere else since he can't really defend or pass.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

The passing of time certainly has not been kind too your ill-advised assessment of the 76ers role players eh Moranis? To this day it stands out on this blog as the most wrong I ever saw anyone on a specific topic.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Clippers or Thunder gave him a look, if they have the space for him.

He's a healthy scratch NBA roster player IMO.

Great guy, good shooter, knows what/who he is as a player. You could do worse with the last guy on your roster.

That's correct. Sims plays in China, Wroten and Sampson are in the Dleague.

It's good to return to old posts from time to time.

When the Rondo trade happened, I thought Brandan Wright was the keeper because he had a good blocks per game average (1.6 in that season in Dallas). His career has gone downhill since then; he only played 12 games last season, and this season he has injury trouble.

Similarly, Dwight Powell turned out better than expected. Most of us thought he would be in the D-League by now, but he is doing OK at Dallas.

Useful stuff to remember when reading the deals for Butler and the predictions about the next draft's first round.

I've always wanted to see what HolliStar could do on a good team with a 10-15 minute per game type role.  The man can shoot.  He generally doesn't do much else but occasionally rebound, but he isn't the type of player that hurts you either.  When he's hot from outside, he can put up 15-20 points if given enough minutes.

Solid 10-12th man, and humble enough to accept it and stay ready.

But I'm not sure I see a roster space for him on the C's.  I'd rather stick with what we have.
