IT4 thinks he should have won. But Wall had just as good of a month plus all those double doubles...

Maybe this means IT4 will start racking up some more assists like he did yesterday

Still does IT4 have a point and got robbed?

I think the injury did him in.  If he had played those extra few games I think he could have gotten it
I'm bitter.

Wall
24.5 p, 10.7 a, 4.4 r, 2.7 s, 0.5 b, 1.9 f, 4.3 t, 37.1 m - 53.8/30.4/81.4

Thomas
30.3 p, 5.9 a, 2.4 r, 1.0 s, 0.1 b, 2.3 f, 2.3 t, 33. 8 m - 55.3/38.7/92.9

So Thomas was the better shooter with more shots and turned it over less, but Wall was better in every other facet of the game and because he was so much better in assists (and rebounds) he was responsible for far more team points scored.  Pretty easy to see why Wall got the nod.

You are so ridiculous. Wall averaged almost twice as many turnovers as IT. This is huge from a point guard and not something you can just gloss over. IT shot better from the 2, 3 and the line with a very big difference from 3. Thomas also averaged 6 more points in 3 less minutes. Wall deserves some credit for his very impressive steals, but his increased assists are really offset by his pretty awful 4.3 turnovers a game. Wall probably got this because IT missed some time.

However your take on this, like almost any other topic, is decidely grass is always greener. No one can say with a straight face it is "pretty easy to see why Wall got the nod." Maybe you could make a new years resolution to be less absurdly contrarian?

I agree with this. Wall averaged 6 less points and shot worse from everywhere on the floor while committing twice as many turnovers as IT. This more than offsets Walls higher assists and steals.
IT missing time allowed Wall to jump ahead, but the idea that Wall played decidedly better as posited by a local curmudgeon is pretty silly.

Both played well enough to win.

Neither played far ahead of the other.

So does Washington have a great record , did Wall led his team  to more suscess ....?

Wall plays on a team where only two people do most of the scoring.

IT was robbed

Assuming turnovers are worth -1.5 points and steals are worth 1.5 points.  Assume rebounds are worth 1, blocks 1.5, and assists 2 (even though that is the minimum).  Then adjust for minutes and Wall contributed 1.31 points per minute while Thomas contributed 1.26 points per minute.  Thomas was more efficient in his own shooting, but has worse teammates he is passing to (overall).

Washington was 10-5 in December.  Boston was 9-3 in the games Thomas played.  So Boston had a better win percentage, but Thomas has better teammates, which tends to help.

Wall is also a better defender. per minute production is valuable, but the guy who plays more minutes does deserve more credit.

They are close, but looking at the stat lines Im picking Wall with a decent amount of confidence. Terrific months from both players.

John Wall is not a better defender.  He should be, but he is not.  He's terrible against the P&R, and IT will expose him yet again next week.

Players like harden, rw, lebron have raised the bar imo

Unless you are averaging 35 ppg and helping your team win, you need to at least average a double double to win player of the month

I dont watch a ton of John Wall so I have to go based on physical tools and stats.

Wall is obviously built to be a terrific defender, while Isaiah should fail. Wall puts up way more steals, has a better DBPM, DWS, and Drtg than Thomas and is ranked higher in DRPM.

Its hard to quantify defensive impact, but Wall rates better than Isaiah in just about every metric and he has far superior physical tools.

Im taking Wall as the superior defender.
