I agree with this. Wall averaged 6 less points and shot worse from everywhere on the floor while committing twice as many turnovers as IT. This more than offsets Walls higher assists and steals.
IT missing time allowed Wall to jump ahead, but the idea that Wall played decidedly better as posited by a local curmudgeon is pretty silly.

Assuming turnovers are worth -1.5 points and steals are worth 1.5 points.  Assume rebounds are worth 1, blocks 1.5, and assists 2 (even though that is the minimum).  Then adjust for minutes and Wall contributed 1.31 points per minute while Thomas contributed 1.26 points per minute.  Thomas was more efficient in his own shooting, but has worse teammates he is passing to (overall). 

Washington was 10-5 in December.  Boston was 9-3 in the games Thomas played.  So Boston had a better win percentage, but Thomas has better teammates, which tends to help.

John Wall is not a better defender.  He should be, but he is not.  He's terrible against the P&R, and IT will expose him yet again next week.

John Wall is not a better defender.  He should be, but he is not.  He's terrible against the P&R, and IT will expose him yet again next week.

I dont watch a ton of John Wall so I have to go based on physical tools and stats.

Wall is obviously built to be a terrific defender, while Isaiah should fail. Wall puts up way more steals, has a better DBPM, DWS, and Drtg than Thomas and is ranked higher in DRPM.

Its hard to quantify defensive impact, but Wall rates better than Isaiah in just about every metric and he has far superior physical tools.

Im taking Wall as the superior defender.
