Jaylen had a couple of really nice finishes last night. It's been heartening to see him finish difficult shots after the erratic summer league performances where he could get to the line but never finish the play. Regardless of how you feel about his minutes, it's been good to see him take contact and still get buckets so far.

Gotta take it easy with the kid. He's shown signs of life lately and needs to build. For a 19 year old to be getting about 15 mins per game on a playoff team is pretty good, especially at that age. He's still raw in a lot of areas but pleased with his progress so far. Hope to see him start breaking out later on in the 2nd half of the season after the early season adjustment period.

Almost 50 games left to play. If he's playing 15-20 mpg by the playoffs with noticeable improvements, that's great for everyone. That's 1000+ minutes of playing time- more than his college career- and less likely to break down physically in his first NBA season. He should be Crowder's backup and stay in that role unless forced into more action via injury.

He's shooting 61% at the rim, which is especially encouraging given how he struggled to finish in college/summer league/preseason.

Do you know what the league average is for finishing at the rim as a wing?

No, but 61.8% is quite good. Jaylen is 42/68 at the rim. Paul George is 43/70 (61.4%). Kawhi is at 62%, but on a higher volume. Jimmy Butler's at 59.6% on a much higher volume. Basically, Jaylen's finishing at the level of an elite wing.

Lebron shoots 74% around the rim but he's a freak. Giannis and James Harden are also around 70%. 62% isn't elite but it's good.

Harden being around 70% is outrageous. I was aware of Giannis and LeBron, but used the freak exception for both of them.

On the bright side, Jaylen is finishing better at the rim than all 3 did their rookie years.

Yes, get him around the basket.  Either post him up or let him drive against an inferior bench player on an isolation play.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.
