Danny fielding calls:

"Rozier... Yes his shooting percentages are up across the board from last year.. yes he doubled his A/To ratio while playing more minutes.. but have you heard of this guy James Young?!  He's got intangibles that literally can't be measured... don't even bother looking up his stats! You'll love him!"

Don't worry, Ainge can spin James Young's stats, too

Selling points (and issues) for Young:
He is shooting 3s at a career high percentages! (28.6%, up from 25.8% and 23.1%)
He is shooting 2s at a career high 57.1%! (On 7 attempts.  Not 7 per game, 7 all season)
He has yet to miss a free throw this year! (Or attempt one)
His rebounding, assists, and steals are at career highs per 36 minutes! (Per36 stats are useless when he's only played 64 minutes)
RPM ranks him the 9th best defensive Shooting Gaurd in the NBA

Which should hopefully stop people from quoting DRPM on this forum ever again.

....in small samples.

No, just ever.  The methodology is not publicly available.  Blackbox gestalt numbers need to be treated with much more skepticism.

The fact that they neither publish the error nor the exact methodology is certainly a red flag.

"The Celtics were undefeated in December in games that James Young played in."

James Young has made the playoffs every year of his career.

Ah you're both right. I had read it as DBPM. Thanks.

Can someone please ship James Young to China already. Or put him as part of DMC trade package... he should count as a Nets pick, right? Right?!

You're absolutely right!

That's why I think we should always evaluate Celtics guards by their player Efficiency Rating. :)

For Example:
                           PER   NBA RANK
Isaiah Thomas      26.7    #13
Terry Rozier          11.1    #283
Marcus Smart       10.7    #298
James Young         9.9     #326

Hey! Wait a second... Marcus Smart is ranked higher in Offensive Real Plus Minus (#151) than PER (#298)!

Now I don't know who to trust!  :(
