No better than Jerry West recognized what most did not, that GSW needed more to compete with LeBron that is why he went out to get Durant. He probably told Durant that he would never get out of the East with LeBron in Cleveland.

Funny thing is that the addition of Durant to GSW which it now appears they really needed has made them the villains of the NBA.

Yup.  I always wanted GS to crush Lebron and Cleveland.  Now I find myself rooting for Lebron for the first time in my life.

Karl Malone might be Lebron's closest comparison between size, athleticism, and longevity. He was a legit all-star until he was 39.  Lebron probably has a solid 5 to 7 years left as a top tier player.

I thought Id be the same way, but I just cant do it. The anti-Lebron reflex is too strong.

tough call.  hate both sides in that argument.  have to begrudgingly say that Lebron actually earned that last title though.  no respect for the Miami wins.

Yep.  They are physically very similar.  I'm not sure Lebron has that many years left as a top tier player though as he did enter the league a lot younger than Malone.  Malone was 35, 14 seasons in, Lebron is 32.  Plus Lebron played a lot more post season games and Team USA games than Malone did through those 14 seasons (though Malone did play more regular season games).  I fully expect best in the world Lebron for another season or two, then expect to see the decline, and I'd be surprised so see Lebron as a top tier player 20 seasons into his career.  Still effective, sure, but all star level, likely not.  But Love and Irving will still be in their prime then, so if the Cavs can somehow stay together that long, I could see them still be a real legit contender.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Yeah, some good comparisons / similarity.  Biggest difference I see in terms of longevity is that LeBron makes a DEEP playoff run, usually the Finals, every year. He plays more games than anyone else currently and certainly more than Malone did, per year. Even so, I think he is at the top of his game for another 3 years minimum.

Are people seriously blind? He (and many others in the league) are loaded with PEDs. Given everything you've witnessed in sports over the past 20 years, why would your hypothesis be any different?

There have been countless stories written on what a joke the NBA's testing program is. There's a reason for that, of course. This is what sells. So given that fact -- that it's pretty easy to get away with it -- what do you think the chances are that the one guy in the league that people talk about as "superhuman" is clean?

Because until I see reasonable evidence that he cheated I won't assume it. That's ridiculous. I understand there are a lot of issues with testing in the NBA and a lot of speculation on the matter, but I won't deem a man a cheater without any real evidence. That is what blind haters do.

I would not be surprised if you saw something of a scandal emerge in the coming years. until then, innocent till proven guilty.

my thoughts exactly, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt, until the NBA catches him, actually scratch that, with or without PEDs, I think LeBron is easily the top 2 players in the world.

Let's give him the credit he deserves

I agree with this. The amount of minutes Lebron has played in his career already is staggering.

Yes, but if caught with PEDs for me that makes Jordan uncatchable unless he wins something crazy like 8 rings.

Lebron is one of the all time greats

Man child no doubt

Imo lebron will retire before his play declines. 2 more seasons
