Found this list interesting. Of players who play more than 20 mpg the following guys are below 40% in FG%, but above 30% in 3FG%.
Wes Matthews
Nic Batum
Rajon Rondo
Emmanuel Mudiay
JR Smith
Patrick Patterson
Matthew Dellavadova
Solomon Hill
Marvin Williams
PJ Tucker
Luol Deng
Rodney McGruder
Matt Barnes
Vince Carter
Brandon Knight
Dario Saric
Brandon Jennings
Dorian Finney-Smith
Jamal Murray
Langston Galloway
Manu Ginobli

This group is below 40 FG% and 30 3FG%.
Ricky Rubio
Marcus Smart
Robert Covington
Kent Bazemore
Andrew Harrison
Frank Kaminsky
Jeff Green
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson
Nikola Mirotic

Smart is one of the youngest guys on the list.

I thought Murray is the youngest player on the list? RHJ is also younger than Smart.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Weird about Bazemore. I was sure that he was poised for a big year with him entering his prime and having more of a pass-first PG in charge. Perhaps he didn't put in the work this offseason after getting $70M...hopefully, for his sake, he is just in a bad slump.

FG% doesn't really mean too much. If a guy misses a lot of shots where he is fouled it'll say he missed a shot but not register the FT we could make. TS% is what we really need to look at.

As for Smart I think the recent addition of post ups has helped up his TS% which is gonna be helpful moving forward

Shot attempts that you are fouled on don't count as shot attempts (unless they go in)
I'm bitter.

Smart has guts and often takes those long shots or late in the shot clock shots that others don't want to take because they will torpedo the shooting%.

I'm not sure what the point is, other than Smart is in a group of elite poor shooters.

I hate using FG% especially when you are looking at 3PT% individually.  2PT% is a much better gauge.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - Noah, G. Wallace, Melo,
Deep Bench -

That's a very good point...   ::)
