Would you do it?

Do you feel this is fair, would Sacramento accept.  Is Boston giving up enough or too much?  Feel free to add your own proposals as well.  We might as well consolidate all the DMC trades in one thread.

I'm starting to think it's a bad idea to include a 2017 Brooklyn Pick (Likely Top-3) to take a huge risk on Cousins. And then obviously you need to add a few picks and players like Smart/Amir to make the deal work.

I say this because he has been a different beast this season, a really angry one

That's going to be the price obviously, I'm just not sure Ainge does it.

He appeared on Toucher and Rich and said "From a distance, Cousins has problems". It seems like he and Stevens really don't want to deal with him.

I don't think that is enough
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I edited trade and threw in the 2019 Memphis pick as well.  Does that tempt Sacramento?

I know it's a big risk but Cousins is ready to help us compete for a championship on Day 1 that we bring him in.  Even a top 3 draft choice likely won't start from Day 1 for us.

The cool thing is that IT and Cousins were teammates before so I believe there would be instant chemistry there.  And I also feel like Stevens can reign in the beast that is Cousins with promises of winning a championship if he just goes with the gameplan.

I've always been on the Cousins-to-Boston hype, and I would love to have him here.

He's been in like 2 different scandals the past few weeks though and is starting to look like an even bigger headcase than we imagined.

That being said, I think I would make a deal for Cousins, because honestly, Smart doesn't look like he will improve his offense much. He does more on defense but still doesn't thread the needle for us.

My idea:

- 2017 Brooklyn Pick
- 2018 Boston First Rounder
- 2019 Memphis OR Clippers Pick (Kings choice)
- Marcus Smart OR Terry Rozier (Kings choice)
- Amir Johnson
- Rights to Yabusele

More than enough, and the Celtics still keep all their core players besides Smart (I don't project Amir to be here after this season anyways), and keep the 2018 Nets Pick and Zizic. This should be enough to at least challenge Golden State and Cleveland. I would hope the Kings would be okay settling for Rozier but I doubt it. It's probably Smart or Bradley.

Also, as an added bonus, I think based on Bird Rights and what not, we could still be in play for a max player this off season because then you can extend Bradley, IT, and Cousins, although Wyc would have to pay a tremendous tax to make it happen. Idk if he would.

Sac would laugh ...
Once again Celtics fans are overvaluing its players even more than management...
It will take a Garnett like ransom to get Boogie (who dont forget has one of the best PER in the league)...
A trade would include both Nets picks to start .. plus at least two players probably in the realm of Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, Jae Crowder, and or Avery Bradley..
Hopefully it could be done with Smart and Crowder/Brown.
Then a filler like Johnson to match salary..
DMC is a once in a lifetime player despite all his tantrums.. Dude has been in a bad situation for too long and needs a transfer ....
The Celtics would be automatic contenders for the next 3-4 years

Of course you do it. You need a legit all star 5-man. Cousins is the best option & puts you over the top.

You give up Smart's great defense, plus his winning intangibles, but you have Rozier to fill his role. You're set to compete and still have valuable future assets to build from.

It's a steal in any trade for Cousins where you don't have to give up the 17' pick & Jaylen Brown. I would have to assume those two assets are the start of any Cousins trade discussion.

If i am the kings I want a top draft pick AND a young player that will become a star (Al Jefferson in KG deal).
I am not sure  we have that player (as much as I want Brown to be that player.)
Since we don't have that guy we may need to give up both Nets picks.

Amir Johnson, both Brooklyn picks, Marcus Smart, Tyler Zeller for Cousins and McLemore.

The trade is going to feel bad at initial glance. This is what you pay for an elite player like Boogie. We lock in our front court and run a rotation of:

Thomas
Bradley
Crowder (replaced by Hayward in offseason)
Horford
Cousins

Bench: Brown, McLemore, Jerebko, Olynyk, Rozier, Mickey, Jackson with additions next year of Nader, Yabusele and Zizic.

Off-season we land Gordon Hayward and seek a trade for Crowder given we want his min to go to Brown.

I think if Cousins ever comes up in a trade Danny would offer the farm for him. I just don't think he gets traded unless he asks for a trade.

The problem with trades like this is that McLemore will have a 10 mill. or so cap hold and that combined with Boogie's 18 mill. will eat up all of the cap leaving no space at all to offer Hayward a max.

Edit: With the new CBA agreement it is likely Boogie is going to want to sign a monstrous extension this off season also.

IMO there is little chance of SAC saying yes to that for a top ten player. They'll probably want Brown, one of Rozier or Smart plus both Brooklyn picks. It's possible that he is completely off the market if they think that they can make the playoffs. It's also possible that we're just not interested in this talented but emotionally and psychologically challenged player.

Which is why the Kings should trade him.  He's going to expect the full designated veteran extension and will probably flip out if they don't give it to him.  If he gets traded, he won't qualify for the designated veteran extension.

why should Boston give two lottery picks for Cousins when each of those lottery picks may have the same level of impact that Cousins has.  No deal, I say just build through the draft.

Here are the lottery picks for the last two drafts (1-14). Other than Towns, is there another player of a similar talent level to Cousins? And you're hoping for two? Our last two near top of the draft picks were Smart and Brown.
