What's interesting is pretty much all the bigs discussed here would help the Celtics right now.
It's a question of who can best play next to Horford, rebound and play defense. Horford is playing the 5 right now, but only because they don't have a suitable 5 who can start next to him. He is versatile enough to be an effective 4, though Millsap played the 4 in Atlanta most of the time.
I'd prefer a guy who lives around the rim--which is what Al does not do. That would be a Noel or maybe a Stein,Nurkic or Bogut. Perhaps they could pry Vucevic from Orlando.
Cousins changes the equation. He's the star Ainge seems to hunger for. Except he has baggage. A hothead. And would the chemistry work? Hard to sort that out. He's the classic alpha dog. Has to be the main guy to be effective. Like Durant, the numbers will drop, but GS seems to be working things out pretty well. Cousins gives you an offensive upgrade, and you have filled a double need. He can also dominate inside.
If he gets along in the locker room, I don't worry about his miniseries with the media. The trouble with the media is you get into trouble with one of them, you get on everybody's crap list. They have a tendency to protect each other. Russell never cared much for the media, either, and it was much better in those days. Less of them. Today, they are always angling for stuff. DUI, fights with wife or girlfriend, relatives, etc. A guy has a problem outside, leagues feel compelled to punish them. I don't agree with all that--most of it used to be kept private. But we know the media has changed the formula lately. They pay the freight.
