Another blow up today from Noel. "I'm too good to be playing 8 minutes, we gotta figure this Sh$T out" he said after the game.

It's a good trade for both teams. Sucks to lose Rozier, but next year's draft PG class is stacked, and we get to take Noel for a test drive in the playoffs, Before deciding if he gets any real money.

We desperately need a big man that can rebound and block shots he does both those things.

Great trade, I would absolutely do it and maybe even add a late first like our 18 first and the LAC pick if philly balks

Nah, Rozier is signed for two more years after this one at a super low cost. He is finally showing confidence and coming into his own. I like Noel, but he is going to cost a boatload this offseason - just not worth it to give up any real assets unless we are sure he is a fixture in our starting lineup for the next 4+ years at $20+mil/yr. I don't think that's a chance I am willing to take right now.

Well, we do have a glut of guards and the 17 draft looks very guard heavy, so shipping out Rozier could clear out our roster crunch. Also, if Noel has a bounce back year and we get the top pick in the 17 draft, we could select Fultz or Ball with the pick and still have enough ammo to move up for the 5th or 6th pick for Giles without sacrificing the 18 nets pick, who I think could be really good

They don't want or need Mickey. They already have way too many bigs as it is.

At the rate it's going, he might be had for just Young and the Memphis pick.

I'd like to save Rozier as part of a Boogie trade, but I'd ultimately trade him for Noel if the Boogie trade never ended up materializing.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Basically, it's Roz for Noel. I'd do it easy. I don't mind paying Noel too and since we'll have his Bird Rights, isn't it that we can go after a big FA (if needed) and then go over the cap to resign him?

Did Ainge do all of this just so he could sign Noel to a near-max contract? I don't think he is interested in just having a competitive team; he wants stars. If somehow Noel flashes star potential in the next few weeks, then sure, I guess, but many around here don't want to take the chance of trading for Monroe or Gay in fear that they might opt into next year. Why is Noel appreciably better than Monroe at much much more money and 3-4 additional years (after he re-signs)?

I have to imagine Cousins, George, Griffin, Butler, etc are all still priorities. I suppose it might  be possible to trade for Noel, cut loose everyone except our core players and attempt to sign Hayward in FA. That is a scenario I can get behind - but I don't want Noel to be our 'final' piece.

Only 8 minutes a game...

Either the 76ers are afraid to showcase him (because he'll look bad) by playing him more minutes
or
The 76ers are afraid he'll get hurt which he has a history of doing.

Do we really need another player on the roster who we'll cringe will get hurt and miss games? He has a history of getting hurt.

I would not do this deal, Noel is fragile and brittle, and I think Rozier may have the better career when all is said and done.

Noel is overrated.  He has no offensive game to fit into our offense.  His rebounding percentages indicate he is not that elite.  Rather he got high rebound numbers because being the only rebounder on the sixers and the sixers missed a lot of shots.  He is an active defender that is capable of getting steals and blocks, but those are not must needs.

Even if this trade consolidates small time players, he isn't worth the money is going to demand in the offseason.  PASS

Rozier would be the only player of value outside of Boston, and that may not be enough to get Noel. If it was, the deal may well have been done by now, though Noel has only been healthy enough to play recently. Philly probably wants more. Every team tends to overvalue their own players.

Noel fills an obvious defensive hole up front, and it would be foolish not to try to get him right now.

Yes. Rozier is the only question mark but it didn't take me that long to decide yes.
