This scenario is purely hypothetical:

This assumes current CBA in effect.

Let's say Celts need to create additional cap room to offer a 30 mil max deal to ???? (Blake?) next summer and they do this by renouncing their QO to KO, thus making Kelly a UFA.

Just wanted to confirm that as an unrestricted FA, theoretically Kelly can sign with any of the 30 teams - including the Celtics. But under this scenario, C's would now need cap room to sign Kelly, which they probably wouldn't have and can not sign with Bird Rights because they renounced him.


I think this is correct, but I wanted to double check.

Sounds right.  So whatever we had left under the cap is what he could get from us.
