There's no way that Yabu looks like Big Baby, unless Baby got ripped over night. Anthony Bennett had (and still prob. has) a developed body, just not a developed game. I think comparing someone's body to Bennett is a compliment.

Yeah, if he has the same athletic upside Bennett did, I'd be psyched.  Just needs to develop the skill set to go with it.

Yabu is about to turn 21 with a lot of areas that need developing and he looks like he could easily have weight issues.   Really wish he was playing in a good Euro league.

The obligatory shirtless pic:

I won't deny that he looks heavier than this in game, but he is a big guy.

It isn't a weight issue. He has a fair amount of lordosis in his spine, and an anteriorly tilted pelvis. That arrangement tends to spill the contents of the abdomen out front, giving the illusion of extra belly fat. In addition, he's got a big butt. A very big butt.

The competition this guy is playing is so garbage. Hard to tell what we have in him. Really liked him in the summer league though.

I'm thinking that Danny drafted this guy to replace Jerebko in the near future. His handle is pretty good for his size and position. He's not afraid of contact and he also moves well. He provides what Jerebko can do and will probably get better than him.
according to pre-draft scouting reports, and who knows how accurate those are now, yabusele is great on offense but weak on defense. i could not judge from the video but often his guy did blow by him. yabusele often blocked the shot from behind, but still.

We got to see him in Summer League, and the scouts were pretty much right.  Slow to move into a space, rotate, help the helper.  He seems to have been a late starter, so as he gets a lot of court time perhaps he'll start to figure out team defense.  Great footwork.

The handles and shooting are VERY unusual for one of his size, and it looks like that could translate to the next level.

Highlight vids are not basketball so it's hard to evaluate a player's overall game, especially his team defense.

I think that we can be cautiously optimistic.

I'm with ya. Although I didn't see him slow to help, rotate, etc. I thought he was one of the few actually helping on D, moving & screening on O, and making the right play. Like Brown & Zizic, we have to remember the age. You have to be optimistic with any talent this young.

I'm extremely impressed with almost the entire draft class, but most are extremely young so we got to be patient.

i think, he looked more aggressive in his last two games -competition doesn't matter, lots of game time and the ability to experiment with moves and hit his outside shot
strength and conditioning program for yao mings team is hopefully top notch-
i saw a lot more different moves to the hoop, seemed quicker in the last two u tubes-

The crazy thing about Yabu is that he can smash you inside and finish at the basket or he can pop off from 3 point range with accuracy.  And he is freaking cut, looks like the bull let loose in the China shop.

In france he shot 42.6% from 3 and 53.9% FG overall in 2015.

With the sharks so far, yabu is averaging 17.1ppg and 8.2 rpg and has claimed a starting role.
I wish they showed more info on his actual shooting percentages.

Then again Yabu's teammate - Jimmy Freddette is averaging a ridiculous 39.3 ppg, 8.7r, and 5.2a so take the stats with a grain of salt.

Or maybe it means we should just go sign Jimmy Freddette. :-)

Stats are here: http://basketball.realgm.com/international/league/40/Chinese-CBA/stats

He's shooting 45/35/75, not bad, but not great considering the competition.

Guerschon is so big and so fast! He has a high motor and can pass and shoot. If that can translate to the nba that'd be something! Reminds me of Larry Johnson.

That's what they said About Giannis and Gobert.
