Hating the Celtics style of play...

Anyone else feel this way?
I know the league has changed, but not for the better.
I'm losing interest fast, watching this 3 point chucking garbage...it's ALL they do now.
I know it makes sense, percentage-wise---but it is awful basketball.

I've been a fan since before Bird...maybe I'm just old--but small ball and the death of big man ball is not real basketball to me--it's like watching a bunch of kids on the playground.

I've heard some people say they should move the three point line back

I've also heard of getting rid of the corner 3 since it's a much closer shot

I'd kind of like to see one of those happen


As far as the style of play: ya, it's annoying. Horford should get way more touches/shots. He could easily average 20 a game with us with enough shots. But i suppose that's just not his game.

i don't mind the 3 ball. in fact, when we're taking good shots, i love it. but that's the problem. we're taking horrible shots from deep. crowder and smart combined to go 4/18 from 3 last night i think. that's a huge issue. they took tons of horrible shots.

Brad also said post game about how guys were trying to go for the home run play every time Detroit would go on a run (assuming the HR play is the bad 3 point attempt), when he wanted us to keep "hitting singles". and he has a point. this team isnt the warriors. they cant go on a 10 point outburst in 90 seconds. we have to keep chipping away at the lead slowly, instead of trying to play hero ball. both crowder and marcus do this a lot, and i hate it.

we're taking horrible shots on offense, and you can see that long 2's and 3's often lead to long rebounds. detroit was snatching those rebounds and immediately running the break and we couldnt stop them since we're too content with chucking 3s. something has to change. Brad has to be stricter with the chucking. gotta look for better shots.

Some say the next stage is to change the rules again in order to even things out and make it easier for interior players to score.


Ideas = make the painted area smaller again so players can post up closer to the basket and/or change the 3 seconds in the paint rule to 5 seconds to give players more time.

Well, I used to get excited to watch the games---for decades really...I've seen 99% of every Celtics games since the late 80's...I had an old school 12 foot satellite dish--and have had Directv/league pass since it's inception.

Now, I DVR games and have had little pleasure watching the past 2 years. Plus, the decisions to reward Jerks like Drummond and Deandre Jordan--for NOT being able to make their free throws really sucked.

Sign me up, the real radical change would be to simply get rid of defensive 3 seconds. I guess Pau Gasol is known to be a much better defender in the international game where he's more free to camp out under the rim.

Can we be rewarded for lack of rebounding? If the other team misses a shot, the defense automatically gets the rebound

There is a lack of balance in the offensive games today. 


To much deep outside shots.  Not enough paint skills. 


For a few teams with the right offensive talent, it is exciting to watch.



For too many teams, it is most nights a long dredge of bad shots.






I think the rules are written right now that overly rewards one style of play.   I think if the rules were tweaked that allowed more variety of attacks, the game could be more interesting. 



I am also in favor of the rules that remove the gimmick defenses.   Like the on purpose foul the bad foul shooter when they don't have the ball.

Fundamentals still win you games, you can't live off of three pointers. And regardless of rules, a great player will hit threes with a hand in his face and do it often.

Anywaym I don't understand why Stevens is tolerating this lack of discipline. I also don't understand how come players like Brown still have no idea what's their actual role in the team. The team should focus on defining roles and implementing strict discipline on the court.

Its just because we actually dont have a real center except Horford. Others are useless in the paint. Although I agree with todays basketball. Just shoot and shoot.

Ha, well for every Greg Kite and Kendrick Perkins--you had some Great Big men--Now, we have really good Big men like Brook Lopez, taking 3 pointers.
