As for Yabu, we saw in Summer League that he often gets swallowed up underneath the basket. The positives; he uses the rim effectively to shield off defenders when going to the reverse side for layups. He also shoots well from outside.
good summary ally. thanks. one thing i would add to it would be a concern over how good a defender yabusele will be in the nba.
so far, i am confident he can score. his outside shot is quite good and he has long, long arms for underneath the basket.
He's got great physical tools: the footwork is already unusually good, great balance, and he's got the size to play physical - just needs consistent work on the body for strength and to get off the "baby fat".
Intriguing skillset including good soft shooting touch and handles - he's got the potential to be a unique player, an impossible matchup.
Downside, though. What we saw in Summer League was a guy who had no idea about basketball on the court, as a team game, at that level. Just really raw. No way it made sense to bring him into the more structured, low-margin-of-error game of the NBA. China makes sense, he'll get a lot of court time to learn the game.
I bet he makes it to the Big Show.
