Most here agree we need improvement with our "bigs".  With Clippers doing so well, many think Blake will stay put.  Noel is probably not a complete enough player to invest big bucks.

Would Serge starting along Big Al move the needle enough?

And of course what will be the market value for him be in summer of 2017?

I'm not saying Kelly has to be renounced, but that would make the numbers easier to crunch for management.

Would 4 years at 88 million get it done?

I'm a big Ibaka fan, and I would absolutely be fine signing him at 4/88. However, I would be surprised if he takes anything less than the max.

With how much Orlando paid to trade for him, they are kind of obligated to do whatever it takes to keep him.

In fact he might be older than that. Their are theories out there that his age was misreported when he came to the NBA.

Even if he's on the downside his career signing him would give the C's a good starter next to Horford that allows them to bring whatever big they hopefully draft along slowly.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

No thanks, Ibaka is wildly overrated.

He's been in decline for a few years now and isn't anywhere near the defensive presence he used to be. I don't know what happened to him, if it's lost athleticism or something else, but he's pretty mediocre these days.

He doesn't have two superstars to take attention off him now that he is in orlando.  The guy has the potential but won't be anything special.  No way the Celtics should invest in him.  If he was so available this past offseason the celtics couldve definitely got him.  But they didn't cause they know that he isn't worth it, just like most teams in the league.  Only the desperate Magic decided that it would be a good trade lol

Apparently so. I didn't know that, but here's a Reddit thread from not too long ago, with speculative evidence: https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/49p2zw/is_serge_ibaka_actually_way_older_than_his_listed/
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Pass

His drop off was at least part of the break up in OKC

Agree with all this. He hasn't improved his game at all in a few years and seems to be getting worse in some areas. But he's a name people know with a lot of physical potential so he's going to get a big contract and likely one that is worth more than his actual ability. Pass.

He's firmly on the decline, which has coincided with questions as to his age. No thanks.

I'd be worried about his age, but if we miss out on Griffin / Millsap / etc next summer (as we are likely to do), getting Ibaka on a 2 or 3 year deal wouldn't be bad.

Indeed, if the Magic continue to struggle, I would be in favor of trying to get Ibaka at the trade deadline.

Yep. I actually don't have any problem with paying him this year, or even next year, but signing him for the next 3 or 4 is just dumb.

I think Millsap would be a better target. You figure he might want to play next to Horford again.

There are always these stories with African players, not just in basketball, but most of them are false.

If we end up taking Jaysom Tatum, who I think can be the next Paul Pierce, I think I would be fine with this. Let Tatum and Brown grow into their roles as faces of the franchise. While Ibaka has deterioted as a shot blocker each year he is having career highs in 3 point shooting percentage, free throw percentage, and ppg per 36. Still a good defender even without his ability to block shots, but also fits very well within the system too and next to Horford. For the right price I say pull the trigger. you
