I am sorry that I stopped believing in you. Sorry that I gave up hope because you were developing at a snails pace. Sorry that I forgot what it was like to be 19..

Today you did not beat the world but you did play with purpose.. You shot the ball like you knew you were a shooter, you even put it on the floor and got to the hoop..  You really can play in this league.. You really are getting better.. You really are the wing shooter that we desperately need..
Keep it up young man.  Not sure what lit the fire but it's definitely lit..  Please continue.

TP. I was coming here to do just this. Kid is starting to flash a little. It wasn't garbage or even close to garbage time either. Critical juncture of the game, and James Young got that call. And he answered it. The shots and points were great, but he also kept 3 or 4 balls alive, one led to a three for Avery. He didn't get toasted on D either. I don't know that he will ever be a plus defender, but if he can just not get roasted, and put up some decent numbers on the offensive end, James Young may find himself staying in the NBA. I was pulling for James to make the last roster spot (I liked Hunter too). I think they made the right decision.

Now, I am urging the exact same thing, but in order to reign in enthusiam at his good game.

Glad to see him do well, but it is a single game.

Kid played well tonight.

Some shots will clank and others will hit, but I hope he provides the same impact in the other phases of the game from now on.  He'd be a good player if he does.

tonight we FINALLY saw the smooth, carefree stroke that he's shown so consistently in the D-league. Great stuff, he just needed to get mentally adjusted to the bigger stage and faster game.

Love the way his BBIQ has improved, too, he is looking more and more like he could be a well-rounded player. he had a couple sharp passing plays, and some very intuitive defensive plays as well - something he has never really featured at ANY level - great news for the future, hopefully.

Now he needs to realize that he is good enough to play like this every game.

As one of the most outspoken James Young critics on this board- in fact I was the first one to make a topic on draft night saying 'Why the hell did we waste a pick on this bum!?!?', he put an enormous smile on my face when hit that last 3 pointer today. He was diving on balls, making the right defensive rotations, and just playing with his heart instead of his head.

I will gladly be very, very wrong about him if he continues his effort. I don't even care if he sucks  as long as he plays with heart like he did tonight, just seeing him put in that much effort and enjoy his time on the court proves that he's growing.
In almost every other contest I've watched him in, he's been off with the fairy's or just too anxious to get his head in the game.

Tonight he was excellent. Congratulations James on your best game yet as a Celtic, helping us get a win on a back to back at one of the toughest home team stadiums in the NBA.

I've never seen him smile so much during a game and he was obviously elated that he did his job tonight. Good for him.

Hope these good messages find James Young. I was fist bumping right along with Bill Simmons when he was picked.



Young was consistently ranked in the top 10 by major draft sources that year. If James Young can turn into who we imagined he could be the skies the limit. For a guy like that to fall to 17 could prove to be the type of steal that propels a team like ours into deep playoff contention.

It's funny how two years of looking completely lost can lower expectations so much that one quality game can seem like such a momentous accomplishment.

Still, I hear you.  James looked like a real player today.  Gave hope he can earn his keep as a rotation player, eventually.  Perhaps as soon as later this season.

Another encouraging thing is that the game was on the road.

Normally breakouts for youngbloods happen at home.

IF he can do 75% of what he showed tonight that could really help this team.
