Wanted to start a thread for KO as I am reading a lot of comments in the game thread about his play over these last two games.

The biggest issue with Kelly to me was his hesitation and lack of playing to his strengths.  Obviously it is very early in the season, but KO looks to have made some strides here.

I posted in the game thread how I feel if Kelly were to receive consistent starter minutes he could put up borderline all star numbers.  15+ ppg, 6-8 boards, 4+ assists and that high 3 point percentage.  I hope we see KO and Horford starting together when Al gets back to full strength.

Yep. Kelly has always just needed to believe in himself.

I have long believed he could end up averaging like 17ppg some day with enough minutes.  Wasn't sure if it would happen in Boston.  He's been our best shooter for the past few years... I'd like to see him consistently get more shots.

Looking forward to seeing him next to Horford.  I've believed this could be a break-out season for Oly and he could push himself into the starting lineup next to Al.

I know it's only GAME #9 in the season...

But looking ahead, can the C's afford to keep KO? (Especially with IT/Smart/Bradley also hitting FA 2 years from now)

It's not whether they can afford KO, it's whether they want to go way past the luxury tax for a "middle of the road" team right now (And I don't think they will).

Engaged-Kelly plus Healthy-Horford could be a really dangerous pair.

But if this is the new norm with Kelly, you let one of those guys walk gladly. Versatile bigs are massive VALUABLE

Will be interesting to see if Ainge is working on any extensions right now for any player.

Shoulda extended him this past off-season.  I predict he'll be much more expensive this coming summer.

Maybe, but only having his qualifying offer on payroll while we search for a max player to add to the team will be more important. Teams were giving out insane money last off-season. He easily could have demanded at least Amir money, now it is more likely Evan Turner money. Hopefully it doesn't turn into Al Horford money, but if he plays that well, then I guess we can't complain.

yes, their strengths compliment one another, or at least it seems so to me.

both can pull their defender outside the paint with thier outside shooting and both are good passers. though olly is not the interior defender or rebounder that horford is, having another team's big man away from the basket might be helpful in that regard.

i think by mid-season we will see just how effectively olly and horford can be as a tandem. i would think that CBS has a number of sets and plays for them.

this should be a fun season.  ;D

I don't see it being less than 15 million a year.  Didn't Ryan Anderson get 20?  Olynyk has such a unique skill set, and if he plays all year like he has these last two games with larger minutes then he is going to get paid a lot.

I could see him taking less to stay in Boston, seems like he would do that type of thing, but I'm thinking it is going to take a big contract to keep him around.
