I agree with this post. It didn't have to be Iverson necessarily. Danny could have rolled the dice and signed Zizac. James Young was basically given a roster slot as charity.
Zeller is a miserable player. Someone said he might have been the one who elbowed Horford according to a Comcast sports network or similar twitter account. If true, Zeller has hurt us more than already witnessed.
Mickey is not a center. Olynyk is maybe or was probably not going to be ready to play for game one. Relying on Zeller as the center backup has definitely backfired.
It is sort of a replay for when Danny traded Perk. It seemed we had enough at center until we didn't and Perk was in Oklahoma.
Colton Iverson or a similar center was needed. Center is Danny's blind spot. Unless he gets lucky with Zizac or makes a trade for a real center, it will continue to lurk over us as a dark cloud.
Otherwise, we will need to pray that Amir and Al never get hurt or Olynyk emerges as quality for center defense which is a stretch of the imagination.
In Danny's defense, the old-school center is a bit of a dinosaur with a changing league. It's probably the most difficult type of player to land. The team who got Shaq was an immediate title contender. The 1984 C's had McHale and Parish.
People may mock the idea of Iverson as having made a difference, but it seems he would have helped us a lot more than Zeller ever could.
I was okay waiting for Yabusele, but not bringing in Zizac was a mistake, imho. It took Horford's concussion to find this out. But it's early in the season. It looks like Al and Jae will both return over the next week or two. This topic could become moot very soon.
