Seems like it would take something really good. Particularly a big man to get us over the top which doesn't seem likely.  I'm not sure Ainge is going to find a trade partner and that pick next  year might not have value that way.    Is Ainge going to go into another offseason with tons of picks though?

It depends, what are the chances that Cousins or someone similar becomes available?
I'm bitter.

If I'm an opposing team, I wouldn't want to pay a premium for that pick until I know it's actually going to be a top 5 pick.

So much to consider, but the bottom line, would have to be the right trade. Which is stating the obvious I know. Without knowing where the pick will land, what/who else goes with it and who lands back in Boston it is a difficult call. If it looks like being top 3 and somebody wanted the pick plus Young and Rozier for someone like Cousins, it has to be a chance.

Doubt that happens though.

<10%.

DA is going to value the pick like it is the top pick and he wants to win the trade. He doesn't have to make a trade so he's not going to do so unless he gets a great deal and full value.

Nobody else is going to value the pick as the #1 pick. They're certainly not going to overpay Danny.

Unlikely it goes anywhere.

Very, very slim.  We use pick to draft Harry Giles.  Young core of MS, TR, JB, and Harry to be competitive for years and years.

I think it gets traded this year... Nets will be better than most people think, get rid of it early before the nets turn out to be better than expected.

A big man won't get us over the top. We would still be relying on a tiny PG for offense at the end of playoff games.

After 3 games, Anthony Davis looks solid and the Pelicans are brutal. They'll get Jrue Holliday and Tyreke Evans back.

I think we should offer New Orleans both Brooklyn picks, Jaylen Brown, Amir Johnson, and Marcus Smart for Anthony Davis.

Do they hang up right away on this trade?
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

They would have to at least think about it. They need multiple young players with high upside if they were to trade AD and I don't think anyone in the league could match what we would offer in the way of well and truly kick starting a rebuild.
It would also take the pressure off of trying to build a team good enough to compete before AD's contact expires, which doesn't look likely at this point.

We have enough depth to cover this and would well and truly make us contenders.
