Going back to last season and this yr. in particular whenever someone would bring up the lack of a star or we're not tall enough or we can't do this n' that, whatever... the one freaking thing that was consistent in Celtics fans responses was "we have great depth" . And the same thing has been said going into this season

But we have two players out now and that's the reason why "we're not as good as we're gonna be". Depth also means we have the ability to over come injuries.

Why can't we criticize this team? call 'em out for the expectations they've instilled in us?

The thing is the two guys that are out are our second unit anchors. Despite Smarts lack of shooting, he calms thing on the floor, he's the leader. They also tried Rozier in his roll when they went small, but he can't guard 3's and that hurt them. So they've been playing Brown more, which he's done a pretty good job, but you can still see the lack of experience there.

And it's been two games. Lets wait till end of December before we start really getting worried.

LOL

20 plus games under .500 the last 2 seasons vs Teams with .500 or better records. 0 1 this season.

It starts and ends with A type players. Ainge did not address the lack of a consistent wing scorer and a legit Power Forward / Center vis trade with the Brooklyn picks or the "so called" depth on this Roster.

Forget 2 players being out - rebounding sucks, crunch time scoring sucks....  our major weaknesses do not appear to have been improved at all...after 2 games.

Because we're only two games into the season?

Seriously.

We were a top-10 offense and a top-5 defense last year. We added Horford and Brown. We'll be fine.

Has anybody said this is a finished product? We have a good team with lots of assets. Why panic?

They almost won the last game.  If the cleaned up rebounding (mainly boxing out across the board) and Wade and Butler, even MCW, didn't have the shooting night of their lives we would've won.  It's an overreaction.

I said it before but I think the team misses Smart quite a bit.

TP.  We haven't shown ourselves to be a good team yet.  We've done poorly against the better teams during the regular season and we get bounced in the 1st round of the playoffs.   So far we've just shown ourselves to be a mediocre team with a lot of depth and good coaching that can really beat up on the below .500 teams.  Hopefully the addition of Horford moves us a step forward but Ainge needs to get us a star (or two) to make us contenders.

Exactly

But i will say that we are still one more player away (or brown at peak) to have a shot at beating the raptors or cavs

I think JBrown will be a beast.  A good beast  ;D

He might be the steal of the draft.

But that's exactly the point he's making. For all the talk about depth, this team seems particularly fragile when one of it's players goes down.

A star player, at least in theory, could compensate for this and carry team on his back when he has to.

Oftentimes the Celtic players did have position. The other players were just taller and stronger and came away with the ball. As the old cliche says, you can't coach height.

The C's must be, and be close to the smallest team in the NBA. Our guards,(especially without Smart) are tiny. IT 5-9, AB 6-2, Rozier 6-1. It's asking a lot to ask them to rebound, and defend the 3. Teams with shooting guards that are 6-5, 6-6 shoot over them.

We really miss Marcus, and his in your face D.

On the interior, we have no player that could be considered a "body mover" a guy that moves players out of their favorite position in the paint.

This team needs a true center, that can defend and rebound. Not to base our style around, but to come in and set things straight in the paint. All the better if he could score a little.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
