Marcus Smart isn't portly.

I've heard him referred to as barrel-chested, though.

Marcus would've been good for a few dimes, a few more rebounds, some steals, a few baskets and controlled (most of the time) chaos in CHI.

We need to GET SMART back soon.

Rebounding is a weak area for the team.  Sully would help with that but he would hurt us in shooting percentage and hurt our pace and a lot of other areas.   This does not take into account  he is already injured, and thus unreliable.

We are rebounding better statistically on the defensive end by a small margin. For defensive rebounds we got   33.3 RPG last year to 34 RPG this year.  The offensive end we are getting 7.5 RPG this year compared to last year's 11.6.  If I had judged with my eyes solely I might be inclined to agree with you but we are rebounding better defensively than last year by a minuscule amount.  In fact last year we were third in offensive rebounds.  Sure we need to cut down on second chance points but we need to crash the boards too.

I would take Horford over Sullinger any day of the week.   He is more efficient and our BPG are up to 7.5 BPG from 4.2 BPG.    I do however think that we need an upgrade of Amir who looks brittle and aged out there at times.   A rebounder down low would help us, because Al likes playing PF.

I think are a work in progress.  We do not have two key reserves in KO and Smart.   CBS did not play our starters together as much as other teams.   He was more concerned with deciding who to keep.   Thus, we looked raw at times.   Other teams are not going to lie down and lose to us, they are going to fight.   We have to come out fighting as well.

I agree. We share different opinions on Sully's game but Horford is a waaaayyy better player. He's what we'd hoped Sully could become one day. Far more complete game on both ends.

I thought, "We could really use Sullinger right now."
We are really weak up front.

Sully would have looked really good sitting on the bench, his foot in a cast.  What was DA thinking.

Zizic is who we should be pining for.

We missed Sullinger last night. Robin Lopez, the poster child for below average NBA starters tore us up on the glass, we missed this big bodied fool. I know all the reasons why we had to cut ties, and I would have done the same thing, but that doesn't mean we wont miss his presence. I know its only one game, but rebounding was a concern coming in, and I feel like we were exposed last night. Its going to be tough to win when a team shoots like 60% on threes, but add in the second chance opportunities and you get crushed.

I tell you who we missed, Howard Durant Anderson Noel Griffin and any other Player Ainge failed to obtain!

We may suffer this year, but Ainge just drafter our Muscular Sullinger Yabu Smelly, and an awesome rebounder and huge human being in Zizic. Just have to wait. It stinks I wish Zizic was here right now.

Rebounding is their obvious weakness, and they keep guys like Zeller? Not the way to a championship, Danny.

We didn't keep Zeller because of his play... he's salary filler for a trade. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sully would have contributed zero rebounds because he would have played zero minutes.

The C's of course knew that there was significant risk of return of his likely obesity-induced injury to his foot.

You must have missed the Marcus Smart is fat thread a couple weeks ago.  We do miss him a lot though.

Didn't Chicago take something like 20 more shots than the Celtics the other night? Wouldn't one consider that when accounting for the higher 34 defensive rebound average? In other words their rebound percentage per opponent's shot must be much lower than last year. (I'm willing to stand corrected.)

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
Mickey hopefully will get some minutes to see if he can add this type of play to our team. Having watch many hawks games in Atlanta. Al is not a great rebounder and does not seem to get the big ones either. We need a rebounding center hopefully our Croatian will become that for us next year.  I think we need to trade our 2018 pick or any non nets pick for that need. Maybe we can Get Giles in the draft too. But draft the BPA with that pick.  Hopefully before the playoffs we can pick up a banger too. We are going to need Defensive rebounding in the playoffs. Hopefully Amir first 2 games are just a fluke and he steps up.
