Green just looks like a gun to me.
Just throw it up every time and hope it goes in.
I would rather keep the young guys.

It sends a pretty bad message across the league (in terms of franchise reputation) when you sign a guy who definitely would have gotten offers elsewhere during the offseason, but then waive him and deprive him of being on an opening night roster.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

They already stated that Green made the final roster, and I believe he will be a big factor this season. They will rely a lot on Green's scoring off the bench, Hunter and RJ aren't ready to be relied on to help us win games this year.

If we were rebuilding , sure, but we are trying to make noise in the playoffs and possibly contend.

we are trying to win. GG has shown that he can play in the NBA.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

He wasn't signed until late July, and as a minimum salary player any team could claim him off waivers if they so desired, so I question that he'd be deprived of something he otherwise would have gotten.

That said, Green isn't getting cut.  We're a contending team with only so much time to devote to developing players.  What's the point of keeping both Young and Hunter when neither would see the floor and get better?  Furthermore, is the OP also proposing to pick up both players' options for next season too?  That decision has to be made in two weeks.  If you're not going to pick up the option, it makes much more sense to have the more immediately useful option of Gerald Green.

I would be mildly surprised if either Young or Hunter ever becomes a regular rotation player in the NBA.

Given that, it doesn't really make sense to make any sort of sacrifice for short term competitiveness just to avoid letting one of them go.

At this point I'd probably lean toward keeping Young since he's, well, younger, and they look about equal in terms of the value they theoretically provide.

Yeah guys, I'm pretty sure if the Celtics truly believed both Hunter and Young were worth keeping around, they wouldn't have added Green in the first place.

Green has played like the guy more on the bubble of being cut than Hunter or Young this game. Lol

I see no reason to keep Green, since Young and Hunter are better.

He's been bad the last couple of games.  15-41, 1-11 from 3 this preseason.  It's more than 1 bad game.

The difference is that Green has already proven he can play (and score) consistently in this league.  Hunter and Young have not.

Green has proven nothing.
He signed a minimum contract as a player on the way out.
