This is pretty much self explanatory. Things to consider are Simmons' injury and increased concerns as to his lack of shooting and how awful Ingram has looked in both summer league and preseason.

too soon yet to be re-evaluating the draft.  we're not even through preseason.

Simmons injury is not career-threatening so he's not dropping.  Ingram's stock isn't dropping.  Brown's value would still be debated about in the 3-8 range by everyone based on what they saw in college.

Simmons is still Simmons. He's still the generational talent he was billed to be (although he's also a little overrated in my opinion).

Ingram is struggling now. But he never was billed to be NBA ready immediately. He's shown some good stuff. He's still at 2

Brown has been up and down, with more ups than downs. The key here, though, is that no one else has looked better, or good enough to make us think "oh, maybe Brown at 3 was a mistake". Yes, tha's including Kris "4/20 shooting thus far" Dunn.

The top 3 would be exactly the same.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

Well to get off to a great start with this post, my hand slipped while I was drinking coffee and I clicked lower then 5 or whatever. Don't ask me how this happened, but there should be one more vote for 3rd. Yeah, its that kinda day.

Anyway, as slam said, its too early to reevaluate.

Simmons is still the best on the board. A lot of people figured he might pull this premadonna stuff (sitting out a year via agent, not getting injured of course.) The sixers take him and go from there.

Ingram while he has struggled mightily up to this point, still has a rather large ceiling. Some were wondering if his shooting stroke was a bit flukey, and we have seen that a bit already. Maybe he will zero it in, maybe not. But his big issue was always his weight. He was drafted at 190 pounds, and recent LA articles are talking about how he is trying to maintain weight, not gain it. 190 pounds. That is what, 5-10 pounds heavier than RJ hunter was when drafted? The kid is a twig and until he gains at least what 25-30 pounds he is going to get manhandled in the league. Even if he gains 30 pounds, he is a 6'9 220 pound twig. His shooting woes aren't the main concern. Still 2.

If the draft order remained the same, and Danny drafted Brown 3rd the first time, there is no way he doesn't draft him again assuming the first two picks stay the same. Brown looks slightly more polished than what a lot of us believed (in no way is he a finished product,) and his attitude has truly shined through. Danny picks him again.

I would imagine a big change would be Chriss would be a bit higher, and Bender may be a bit lower. Maybe not.

i have friends who are lakers fans, and all through July theyre boasting to me about how Ingram has added 5 pounds and how hes eating 5000 calories a day so that he can get bigger and help the lakers out immediately, and how he's working really hard and "hard work and dedication" and all that good stuff that they think the Lakers have.

once simmons got injured (and after the speculation that it was that he gained too much weight), they're like, "see? ingram is rail thin, he cant just add weight like that, he's smart, unlike simmons. he'll add weight over time".

I was like LOL, ok, whatever floats your boat. THey're a really hypocritical bunch, for lack of a better word. Right now theyre telling me how good D'Lo and clarkson are and how Walton will make them the next Warriors and how theyll make the playoffs this year. I guarantee you, if they come out of the gates losing a ton, theyll tell me "yeah, we've always been tanking. walton is building a nice young core with these young guys, there's no point in winning now anyways".

sigh, whatever.

I can defiantly say Brown has exceeded expectations and the other guys have been disappointing. Especially Dunn. Apparently he can't finish either...Just to point this out to the Brown haters, if Brown could finish, he would average 18 a game this season. Have patience because it takes time for people to improve. Not everyone can be a stud their rookie seasons.

Same teams picking? How would he go anywhere different?  Simmons/Ingram still go 1-2 and unless we're already having serious second thoughts about Brown we'd take him again.  And I doubt we're having second thoughts.

I'm not sure Ingram goes ahead of Brown at this point. There were question marks on just how good of a shooter he actually is as in college his 68% FT shooting was a concern. So far he looks like he might've been overrated as a shooter and in the preseason is 23% from the field, 22% from 3's, and 35% from the FT line. This doesn't even address his lack of strength, which by the looks of it seems that Ingram is several years away. Plus, the Lakers are clearly not patient type.

Haha yea, I hadn't heard of any significant weight gain, so I googled the subject. A few sources said he has gained a couple pounds, but most said that he is looking to maintain. There were even direct quotes from him saying he hasn't gained any weight as of the start of training camp. The guy is just so skinny. We were and are all concerned about how rail thin our Hunter is, and he was 5 pounds lighter then Ingram who is 3-4 inches taller. They need him to put on some weight, or he will just get pushed around.

I don't think anything changes after only a handful of preseason games.  Check back in mid-January or so.

Now, I would not be shocked to see him be the best player in this year's draft.

I think the OP is trying to get support for his idea that Brown may be a better pick than Simmons or Ingram.  I agree with most everyone that there would not be any change in a redraft at this point.

I think if you look at this draft, you could probably pick the names out of a hat (say picks 1-7 or 1-8) and have an equal chance of matching the order of future value of these players.  You want to make the case that Dunn is the best in class?  Sure. Simmons? Brown? Heild? Bender?  Any one of these guys could end up being the best.  Any one of these could be a bust.

I am happy Brown as I would have been with a couple of others.

They havent even played 1 regular season game. And even with this you need to wait after 1 season and after 3 for a proper evaluation

Not necessarily. I don't think he'd be drafted ahead of Simmons, but I do think he would go ahead of Ingram. I'm not sure why people don't think that stocks, especially for young developing players, aren't fluid. Players rise and fall on boards after a few March tournament games, after combine measurements, after workouts, and even after interviews. So it's only logical that the same would apply after seeing players perform on a different stage in summer league and preseason. I'm fairly certain that after watching players many teams would change their stance on prospects. Just like they probably had after some of the scouting process described above.

Still 3 by the C's and I still believe they got the best player.
