Going to disagree.  Hustle guys like JJ help you win regular season games.  He's a solid rotation guy to have until something better comes along. 

Something to keep in mind is with the lack of rebounding on the roster, expect an above average amount of fouls from the bigs.  They're going to need some depth there.  He's am athletic 4 who can get out and run the floor so his skill set fits with the rest of the roster.

Plus he probably has a little bit of trade value so he could be moved if an opportunity comes along.

1) Everyone is expendable.

2) Jerebko is a plus on both sides of the ball, excellent three-point shooter, leader on and off the floor, middle linebacker on defense.

3) The contract is VERY favorable to the Celtics.

4) Came through as a starter in the playoffs, stepped into an expanded role and delivered when they needed him to.

Until something better comes along!? He's what, the fifth big?  No, you're not going to do better, especially at that price.

By the way, it looks pretty unlikely that he'll get minutes at small forward.

I'd challenge anyone who wants to replace him to suggest who would be a better option.

Ok, maybe a better question for you is would you rather have Brown as the small ball 4 than Jonas?  Or better yet Crowder might get the small ball 4 minutes with Brown or Green at the 3.  Where does Jonas fit in with Al, Kelly, and Amir locking up the rest of the big man minutes?

What I meant by trading him is for future value with a pick if he isn't going to play much, and you can clear some roster space.

Barring big trades for stars there are many players on our team not expendable for our success this year.

He's depth that you can count on, at bargain money.  It's a long season.  There's a salary cap.

Clear roster space for another fifth big?  What's the point if you've already got him?  You are suggesting that they get another draft pick that might become a star at some point in the future, and meanwhile someone else plays his role.

This is not rebuilding anymore, this is going for it.  The goal here is a championship. Why'd they get Gerald Green? Not because he has upside, but because they're going for it, because he's a vet and a known quantity.

Exactly.  Boston almost certainly needs another star or even two in order to contend.  Would you say that Horford or Thomas are top-ten players?  I wouldn't.  Therefore everyone is expendable.

I get your point.  With everyone healthy he may be just rotting on the bench but good insurance to have.  Expendable maybe isn't the right question to ask, but if you want him part of the rotation at all.  If he plays it's probably at the expense of Brown or Green.  I personally would rather play Brown even with rookies inconsistencies up and down that could pay off come playoff time, and Green being the more explosive scorer which we need in our second unit.

Stevens seems adamant about making Rozier the 2nd unit's PG and giving him a role on the team, when really Smart's at the point in his development where it'd make more sense to give him the playmaking/ball-handling responsibilities (especially with Kelly coming back to share in that, and Jaylen breaking out) and keep him up towards 30 mpg where he's been his first 2 years.

I really like Rozier, but not as much as I like the defensive intensity and size/length of Smart - Green - Brown on the perimeter.  Can't see room for him as a backup guard without stealing minutes that Smart's earned.

I think with Jerebko, Zeller, and Rozier all being expendable, and with Rozier being a valuable prospect on a rookie contract, we can turn that into some sort of favorable trade package.

I guess another option is Brad keeps playing Brown at PF.

You lost me.  It seems you are trading away Rozier for nothing and just sitting Jerebko and Zeller.  Please clarify.
