IMO, C's are short one big body up front this season, but you just can't bring him over and give up the stash, too valuable.

From the youtube clips it looks like he could probably already replace Zeller.

Not bad for a 19 year old at all!

He runs the floor hard, has soft hands, and gets the ball up quick quick quick.

Liking this pick.

Why is keeping RJ Hunter, James Young, and Jordan Mickey on the roster SO important?

For gods sake, don't let triboy see you post this!!! ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

In the long run, it's probably not.  However, I believe DA is not going to simply give up assets if he doesn't have to.  IMO, he did a brilliant job of using all those picks by working out 3 stashes (Zizic, Yabu, Nader) so that he could have one more look at RJH, JY and JM, but now the clock is winding down to opening night.

I don't think these three are assets anymore -- they look increasingly like they would, at best, turn into bit NBA players. Right now the only thing that's preventing them from being out of the NBA are their guaranteed contracts, and for one of them even this wouldn't be enough.

Frankly, I think Gerald Green has made both Hunter and Young expendable, since I don't expect that any of those two will ever be better than he is right now. Also, someone threw it out there on morning sports talk radio that we're kicking JR Smith's tires, so I wouldn't be surprised if the team cuts both of them.

I doubt DA looks at it this way.  Assets are assets until they are no longer with the team.  Injuries happen, plus he might be lucky enough to get a way-future 2nd rounder for one of them.  Danny will squeeze every drop out of that stone.

Assets are assets when they have value. Otherwise, they are junk. Sure, we may end up keeping these players because having someone to throw in a trade is objectively better than having a dead salary slot, but I don't think they're fetching you anything to speak of at this stage.

Yeah.  Just because you have a salary slot, doesn't mean the guy is an asset.  In fact, people get traded with dollars for highly protected 2nd round picks to other teams all the time just to clear that player off of a team.  That said, I think Mickey still has some value.  He has looked pretty good at times this preseason.  I also think Hunter may still have some value, though not very much.  I don't think Boston could really give Young away though.  He is most definitely not an asset and would just be a salary throw in in any trade.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

OK, the word 'asset' is not so good in this context.  However, the larger point is that DA has no urgent need to bring Zizic over (and therefore start the rookie-scale clock).  If there is even a chance that Mickey or Hunter fetches you something in trade, then there is value to holding on to them as long as possible.

This is not baseball. Every season that you keep a player overseas is a year he's not helping you win games. If he can do the latter, there's no benefit of engaging in the former.
