Gerald Green hasn't played in this preseason stuff. He'll be pretty significant in stretching the floor and running the floor as Brad wants to do. I'm excited to see him play. Unfortunately his spot on the team means Brown won't get as many minutes as we'd all like ( I think anyway).

I think young and green are more in a battle.  Green will probably supplant hiim for a year or so.  I'll be surprised if Zeller, Green and Amir are here long term. That could change for Green if Young gets traded though.

jaylen has to get minutes regardless imo.  The C's may start to sit him down the stretch but I hope not.  If they do I hope it's more a protective and development measure.

jaylen, smart and rozier have to be the first guys off the bench I figure although it will probably fluctuate somewhat.  Young and Green is really a toss up who to go to at this point over Jerebko.  KO has to have a spot too.

It's interesting, CBS has said that smart will play starter minutes. Rozier will get a lot of minutes and Young, Brown and Green will be fighting for minutes. Nut to me it is already clear that Brown has a higher BBIQ and better feel for the game. He of course will make rookie mistakes but I read a quote from CBS saying Brown will have an impact this year. So it should be a good battle in camp and going forward to get minutes.

Anyone can make a highlight reel. The knock on Green is twofold:

(1) His lack of Basketball IQ
(2) Is lack of defense

Green was brought in just in case Brown was too raw to contribute. He was brought in to add scoring punch off the bench (36% career from 3, 18 points PER 36) and because his athleticism fits in well with the second unit. He's not a rebounder, passer or particularly good defender.

Brown is already starting to show some good defense and seems to have a better all around game than Green (5 boards in 22 minutes last night, 4 boards and 4 assists in 21 minutes against Philly). Thus unless Brown hits the rookie wall or can't play effective defense when the games are played for real, I don't see Gerald stealing minutes from Brown. I see Green complimenting Brown when they're both on the floor. Green's 3 point shot has to be respected and when you put him and Olynyk on the court that should open up the middle for Brown to drive the lane.

I think they tried out Brown at the four for a reason and I expect to see more of it.  The kid could still grow, isn't his dad seven foot?

It would be pretty hard to accept if Brown has to wait on Green or someone else getting injured to get playing time. Hopefully it's Brown's minutes initially to lose.

Yup, I'm excited about Green,he gonna win us a few games this year, but Jaylen is our man, he's here to stay longtime hopefully, so I'm more excited about him getting some minutes benefiting from all our veterans. Think he's in a good situation here, just needs to be positive, work and learn and he will be alright.
