I know this is preseason, but Brown's versatility is looking like it's appealing to Brad. He can legitimately play the 2-4, though Brad hasn't played him much at the 2 yet, and he's certainly aggressive and confident attacking the rim. When we get our defense back on track and start forcing more turnovers and running more, Brown is going to really excel in the open court offense.

Don't expect him to get Smart minutes right off the bat, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him getting 15-20 minutes by the end of the season. He's progressing and learning the game much faster than most of us thought he would.

We'll have a really solid 10-deep unit of the starters (IT, AB, JC, AH, and AJ) and the bench mob (TR, MS, JB, JJ, and KO) that Brad can rely on playing regular minutes night in and night out.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

He's been my guy since the draft process began, but still have a long way to go. Let's see if he can remain this consistent.

I think his development is the key to this team making it to the next level - next level being a contender to win the conference.  He's looked good so far, but once teams see him on tape they'll adjust defensively and Brown will have to work through that.  I think we'll see typical rookie ups and downs the first half of the season but I just get the vibe watching him that he's going to be really good and maybe a lot sooner than many think.

I think Brown is going to be really good. If he keeps improving over the course of the season, who knows what we could have on our hands by the time the playoffs roll around.

I'm with you.  Summer League gave me the impression he might struggle to get consistent minutes this year on this team.  He looked extremely raw.  Sure he had potential, but in the short-term he didn't look ready.  But at least in the first two preseason games, he's looked good enough that I'm cautiously optimistic he might be ready for minutes right now.  Hopefully he keeps it up.

I'd like to see him get 15-20 minutes from the start of the season.  I think he's ready enough for that time, and then we will know what we have in him by playoffs.

I think you mean more regular minutes.  Since day 1 I've assume he'll have consistent pt but with our teams depth at sf:
Crowder
Jonas?
Green?
Smart?
Brown
I'd say from seeing first 2 preseason games he is #1 backup to Crowder.  Also I think this is a kid (like we like them) that wants those minutes.  I could see him in practice really going after anyone who can't handle him i.e. Everyone but crowder

Agree

Brown ....looks like he is in his second season , not the beginning of his first.  He seems to thrive off a challenge , not shy away or hide.  Serious attitude for 19 year old,    This is stuff that made Kobe great.   " I can score, good luck stopping me"

Fade away jumper or take it to the hole.  Opponents won't be able to ignore him for a second.

Playing against strong defenders on his own team in practice  ,  gets him use to the intense game day speed and levels.  Should be fun.

The game gets more exciting whenever he is on the floor.

Jaylen adds a new dimension to the team with his transition game and slashing.

I can't wait to see him in the lineup with KO. Last night his driving lanes were a bit clogged with Zeller in the lineup.

But him at the 4 for say a 3-minute spell, with KO, Smart, Rozier and JJ  would be interesting to see.

yeah, I thought Brown was one of those super raw, going to need to ride the bench for a year or two guys. While his ceiling is still years of improvement away, he already can contribute to this team in many ways. This is encouraging because I tend to fall on the side of guys needing playing time to develop. The fact that he'll be on the court will only help him reach his potential.

Not sure why you're only now starting to think this. It has been abundantly clear for a while that he'll be the first SF off the bench.

that is what I was thinking, Brown was always going to get at least 15 minutes a night.

Brown and Jae both taking some minutes at the four IMO gives Stevens the chance to sit both JJ and TZ (once KO is back). It also gives them a chance to find minutes for both GG and JB. That means the team can play their 10 best players--even though only three of them are "bigs".
