There are many reasons why we should take Okafor over Noel...IMO
But if we could trade:
Rozier
Young
4
Okafor
Well, I would put a lot more faith in DA to make the right call....and I would be the happiest guy on EARTH.
Posters are going to bring up his "weaknesses" and his potential team afflicting shortcomings....that is actually good and many people subscribe to that view, which is why IMO Okafor is the most underated asset in the NBA.
I've used the same and evolving scouting methods, before and after they entered the NBA, that I did with AD, Drummond, Karl Towns, Embiid, Myles Turner, Gobert, and etc.( more recently Ingram and Dennis Smith Jr from and they showed me enough when they were soph in hs)
Okafor is so undervalued and a lot of that has to do with the physical strengths and weaknesses that he naturally had as a teenager entering the league. Then, he played for the 76ers; whose style of play and surrounding of players were the "kiss of death" for a bigger rookie Center like Okafor....both on offense and defense.
I've already seen Okafor improve his left hand (which was non-existant)and conditioning from last season. I also have good reason to believe that his jumper will be much improved from the end of last year as well. When you add Okafor's:
- 7'6.5'' wingspan
-9'3'' standing reach
- better conditioned game weight of 260lb to start the season..which IMO will drop in the 250's later in the season or sooner
- his dominant post play
- his elite ball-handling skills for a big man
- the willingness and ability to run (another reason he got in better conditioning)
- the improvements he can make on defense from his rookie year by just being in better condition( which he is in better condition)
- The experience he has from his sole year in the league...especially with a target on his back, holding his own against legit defenders, and being the only offensive option, no spacing on offense or defense, all around horrible environment for that kid
-can hit 70% or possibly better from ft
-passing ability
-salary and years on contract
Obviously, I see Okafor as a future top center and someone that is a legit BIGMAN. Also, the dude is nimble and graceful....I see big things from him and especially if he was on the C's
Starting Unit and the Potential Spacing
PG IT 2.0 3pm
SG AB 1.9 3pm
SF Crowder 1.7 3pm
PF Horford 1.1 3pm
C Okafor: IMO Offensively will provide higher quality and more frequent 3pt shots from Celtic teammates from around the arc. He can make other teams, ESPECIALLY IN THE PLAYOFFS, stay more honest on defense because the threat he is in the post and 10' around the hoop on offense.
I'm hoping Embiid's play, along with Saric and the imminent return of Simmons, will make Okafor a Celtic.
