I'm not seeing 65 wins. I'm seeing more like 57-58 wins.

But most of what the OP has written is spot on. It was obvious that the Celtic starters could have won the game against the 76ers by 15. Our second unit, with the addition of KO and Green should be very good.

DA and CBS have done a wonderful job building a gritty, young team in just a few years. The "rebuild" talk when Rondo, and Jeff Green were traded away is long gone. Honestly, were a player or two away from being a serious contender.

We won 48 games last season, then swapped Jared Sullinger with Al Horford and Evan Turner with Jaylen Brown. I'd set the over/under at 50 games and be cautiously optimistic.

Yeah 65 wins is a goofball #. I'd put the over/under at 53 games, and would be pleasantly surprised with anything else. I think a good goal for the team would be to secure the #2 position in the East going into the playoffs. Win totals are harder to handicap, but relative playoff positioning is a good indicator.

If they are a top 6 team in the NBA this year, I'll be psyched.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

I am thinking somewhere around 56-59 wins.

55 means winning 2 out of 3 all season long, and is a 7 game improvement over last year.  60 is winning almost 3 out of 4, all season long.  I'd put the over/under at 55 or a little less.

Most people think of me as an optimist.  You guys are on some serious happy juice, but I hope you're right.

Yeah, the over/under at 55 sounds about right. And that's still okay, because 57 wins won the East last year, iirc.

I predicted 55 before the season, but after watching how fluidly Horford seems to fit in, I could see 60 as a real possibility.

I don't see any reason why this team should lose any games this season. But I'm a pessimist, so I'll predict 81-1.

80-2. No matter how good we are, we'll still find a way to split the season with Brooklyn.

A friend of mine will vote a movie a ten if she sees others giving it too low of a rating. That is the essence of my post to counteract the miserable Pitino fans who think 50 wins is the pragmatic, serious prediction.

I am well ahead of the curve in rating the Celtics. It's good to see there are others who sense we will win 58 or 60 wins.

One of the rare teams to win over 65 games was the 2008 Celtics. That one had a lot of new players and young guys with a lot of responsibility.

I will need certain players to produce to come close to 65 wins. There's Olynyk, Smart and Rozier. We can assume Isaiah, Bradley, Crowder, Amir and Horford are top-notched. The second half of the core will need to fill in the Eddie House, Leon Powe and PJ Brown roles.

It can happen. I think it just hasn't sunk in yet for a lot of fans that Danny quietly moved us into the top three for NBA teams. That makes us title contenders.

Think about all the people saying Golden State had the title in the bag last year. They had won 77 or I forget how many games. Then they lost in the Finals. One never knows.

We are in pinch me territory as basketball fans rooting for Boston. Others hold onto Pitino mentalities, yet they'll eventually have to jump on the bandwagon at some point or maybe find another sport to try to understand.

65 is just plain crazy talk  :o.  But TP for the optimism.

To give you some perspective, I think the over under of 52.5 from this site is about right, though I would take the over  ;D

i see us having the second or third best record in the east. our starters already look in synch and we should have a more successful season.

question for me is how far this team can go in the post season. perhaps ec finals. but I think Cleveland still has more firepower.

Without a huge midseason trade for a superstar like Westbrook or Butler that uses primarily draft picks and doesn't totally decimate our roster, 50-55 seems reasonable. 65? Were we the ones who actually signed Durant?
