From the Bill Simmons podcast one hour in. Great podcast, and probably the most revealing quote from him the entire show.

He's excellent at avoiding questions, and Simmons is so funny and points it out to him each time.

Wonder, if the acquistion of athletes and removal of non-athletes was predicated by this revelation?

Probably not.  The team needed an improvement in athleticism before Stevens' revelation.

i agree with tri, i don't think it's always...are the Spurs considered a fast team? I mean compare to Miami with LeBron, or the GSW

The Spurs played fast, even if they arent a group of speed demons. The Miami Lebron years, they never got to top 20 in pace.

All respect to Stevens, but he hasn't coached an NBA team past the first round, yet.

Size and talent has a tendency to win later on in the NBA playoffs.

which of course we, here at cb, have done with regularity.  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

We can't ignore the part of his answer referring to "in a 48 minute game". I think he means endurance, hence maintaining speed late into th game. If players are half a step faster to loose balls, defensive positions, rebounds, open spots, shot releases, etc., that team will win.

It's also most likely, and conveniently, what he's going to be preaching to his players in a couple of weeks.

Hey, I'm pretty sure that Jim O'Brien, Larry Brown, and Tom Thibodeau have accounts here and post every once in a while.  Spoelstra and SVG don't post, they just lurk.

I mean, you don't know that they don't have accounts here and post sometimes, right?

They used to, they all got banned eventually. We're left with ML Carr, Rick Pitino, and Paul Gaston as celticsblog regulars.
