He's oozing with talent and gets a second chance here.  We have really good wings.  He's a legit shooter we don't have besides Isaiah and Bradley.  Not the most physical guy.  He makes Olynyk look tough at times but has really started to play the last few years.  His body doesn't seem to have taken the beating in the nba either.  He is still really young.  Don't underestimate Green.

The issue is he's still 3rd on the depth chart.  I can still see him managing 11 ppg. It's going to be tough for brad though.  Green is a legit talent though overlooked with the signing of Horford.  We didn't get Durant but Green and Horford is good. I think we are a legit contender and championship aspirations.  I can see why Ainge jumped on the Green signing.  Green might not be mcgrady but as a roleplayer with some flaws at least he is healthy. Needs to continue to concentrate on being aggressive and working on his handle.

pg-isaiah, rozier, jackson
sg-bradley, smart, hunter
sf-crowder, brown, green** He's down in the rotation unless a move is made. We are really deep though
pf-amir, ko, jerebko
c-horford, zeller, mickey

Hunter and jackson aren't going to get minutes minus spot minutes.  Green, and Jerebko might get time.  He's about as good as it gets as an 11th man on a roster though.  We are san antonio like in that regard. We go small and Zeller sits Green is going to be the guy we go to.  Even with Brown at first.

I'm excited to have him back. He has a chance to come here and really pick it up a notch, take his game to the next level. Not saying he's going to be even starter talent, but maybe a top 6th man or JB will impress early and take his minutes. Don't know but can't wait for training camp to open when is that?

boston is going to go crazy over this guy--a dunk is two points but can whip the crowd into a frenzy after the celtics d lead to transition or a backdoor cut  and isaiah pass or a kick to corner for three, close out to quick and get blown by--brad is going to love putting this guy in position to succeed
ainge just added another incredible part-

preseason is starting soon I think. Usually early october and the season starts towards the end of next month early  november. We are almost there.  I think training camp is usually end up september.  Like 2 weeks until the start of preseason though.

Gerald Green thrives on a team that relies on fast pace and shooting. When he was both an MIP and 6MOTY candidate in Phoenix, the Suns played an unselfish run and gun/pace and space system. During those two years he was there, they were top 10 in pace, and that's when Gerald played the best basketball of his career.

When Gerald was in Indiana and Miami, those teams' offenses were ISO half-court offenses that didn't run the floor at all. Indiana's pace in 2013 and Miami's pace last season were both ranked 25th in the league, and that's when Gerald's play really suffered.

Now he's back playing for a team that plays at one of the highest paces in the league and will rely more and more on the 3-pt shot. Since Gerald is an adequate 3-pt shooter (36% for his career), he should feel right at home again.

I 100% agree with the OP and I think Green could potentially be one of the most underrated additions of the summer.

It's a cheap option, but don't you think if he were so incredible he wouldn't be on his 5th team in 6 seasons and having to settle for a vet minimum contract?

Green should get plenty of play. I see Brown playing most of his time at the two. Hunter and Young aren't better than Brown.

IT/Smart
AB/Smart/Brown
Crowder/Green
AJ/JJ
Hordford/KO/Zeller

That's not bad although Rozier has to get some run.  Rozier, Hunter, Mickey and Jackson are out it looks like right now. Zeller and JJ are going to sit and we are going to go small at times.  Green is more offensively geared and is going to play though.  He is a legit scoring option.  He's got to play quite a bit. He's probably our 4th our 5th best scorer right now.

There's no reason Green and Crowder can't be on the floor at the same time, 2/3 or 3/4 small ball.  Best players will get playing time, don't worry about the "depth chart".

after our starters marcus, green, brown are probably our most talented players.  Amir is going to start but play limited minutes.   All our other starters will probably play 30+.  Bradley and Crowder may be limited some this year.    I think Green is one of the top 4-6 players off the bench.  KO and Rozier are going to play too though. Zeller and Jerebko are going to figure in quite a bit too. Even Hunter will get some run.

Minutes are going to fluctuate but if Brad is playing hte best players

1. Isaiah
2. Horford
3. Bradley
4. Crowder
5. Smart
6. Amir
7. Brown
8. Green
9. KO
10. Rozier
11. Zeller
12. jerebko

Something like that.  Green and Browns minutes may fluctuate.  Injuries will happen.  Brown may demand minutes early.

Our team isn't getting less talented so that's good. With guys like Hunter and Mickey waiting in the wings and jackson plus Yabusele stashed and Zizic.  Plus more draft picks.  Roles are going to be established. Green has a real shot here in the interm to solidify himself as a core roleplayer.  He's a better shooter than Turner and can really make plays with his athleticism.

It's great to have green back in Green. He gives us a nice athletic wing option. Between Brown and Green we have two incredibly athletic "above the rim" players. Should be fun to watch. How it all shakes out in terms of roster spots and playing time... we'll see. But Boston is a better team than it was last year at this time. I look forward to the year.
Celtics fan for life.

I'm not the world's biggest Kelly Olynyk fan, but that list does him a gross injustice.

This.

I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt due to his success in PHX and Wade's compliments (before last year), but I remain skeptical on how much of an effect he will have in our system. I am glad to have a super athletic guy that can hit the three on our bench, but that doesn't mean he will be able to do anything else. Basically, I will be really disappointed if he is getting Brown's minutes, unless he proves to be the ultimate reclamation project (at least in the meld of Turner getting Smart's and Crowder's minutes).

Very true. He will be fun to watch though, as will Jaylen. Both may even end up having semi-comparable seasons, statistically.
