Ainge is a top 5 GM, in my opinion.


I love that all of the contracts are tradeable.  Now we need other GMs to man up and not be afraid of Trader Danny!

Ainge has come a long way since he hit the reset button with the Nets trade.

He has a way of inflating one's current value to get very good future value in trades.  6 of those players from 2013 aren't even in the league anymore, and many of the rest of them aren't as good since 2013.

I think what he meant was how quickly he was able to upgrade and improve the team from 2013 to the current team in a matter of 3 years. In my opinion that is very significant given how he sold a bunch of players for more than what they are worth. In another thread, some of those players aren't even in the league anymore.

On top of that, without the constant improvement year by year, I don't think Horford will remotely consider Boston or Boston won't even be on Durant's radar to begin with. While we may all be disappointed that Durant chose GSW over us, I think we would all agree, without our improvements, we would not even be on Durant's shortlist of teams he is meeting with.

It really started with disassembling the previous core letting ray walk and trading KG, Pierce and then Rondo for draft picks. We were basically really bad for a year and missed the playoffs.   We've progressively gotten better each year to being in great position.  He is doing work all along though. DRafting Bradley even was a pick for the future.  Having Rondo and Jeff for a bit there was kind of that in between.  He's turned it into two allstars and a bunch of young good talent that plays together though.  So much for tanking.  I'll take that mindset of winning basketball any day.

These guys at the end of the roster or the bubble are unproven, so it's tough to disagree with you. Ainge may have a problem in a year or two if he overstocks the team with more than 15 good players and prospects.

Teams will know Ainge has to unload someone similar to Philly having too many bigs who overlap and they are not fooling anyone as to the worth of Okafor, Noel and Embiid. Maybe Noel would be perfect, but there is always some catch as in he could throw off the salary cap for years to come. We would be putting in too many chips for Noel. Same as if we had matched for Evan Turner.

It can be a good problem to have. When has a team had 15 players who could all play at a potentially top level?

Sure, Yabusele and Zizac aren't even with the team. Rozier might have been overhyped. Hunter might be a good college player but like James Young not good enough to stay in the NBA. I think we as fans have only scratched the surface as to what Danny has accomplished and set in place no matter how good or bad players 12-15 end up.

To think we almost ended up as a perennial loser team if Danny and Doc had stuck together out of mutual loyalty.

It is absolutely astounding how much for the better we have changed from year one of the Brad Stevens era to the start of his fourth year.

We could make the Finals and win it. I don't care how stacked Golden State and Cleveland are. No one thought the Patriots could beat the Rams in 2001. Danny needs to keep doing what he's doing, let time and nature carry us to title #18. It could be this year or in four years, but it will happen imho.

TP. Danny has done a fantastic job rebuilding this roster. But now go and try to convince the Danny haters before they tell us that he should be fired immediately, and that they would have done much better as GMs than Danny, and how they'd have already gotten us a championship, and how they have "friends" who are also "scouts" who have never been wrong about anything and have a much better track record than Danny.

Actually I give credit to Brad Stevens for the last couple of years of improvement.  That said, they haven't won a playoff series yet so how much improvement has there really been?  After 3 years, I would say the re-build is "on track" but with quite a ways to go. This is why I question the OP's point.

Most young players take years to develop. Olynyk is the oldest young pick and we should be able to determine his true value this season. Smart and Rozier are still incomplete for grades.

Danny's trades are the only things we can measure. If Smart, Olynyk and Rozier are good parts of the rotation and Brown shows signs he is a top talent, perhaps the boos will turn into cheers for Danny's drafting.
