I really like Hayward, but if he comes to our frontcourt to start alongside Horford and Crowder, the Celtics would become a historically awful rebounding team.

I'd put my money more on Paul Millsap as the C's target next summer (or even earlier this season if things go wrong with the Hawks). He and Horford worked phenomenally together in Atlanta and I think he'd love it here in Boston.

However, I still haven't lost hope that Durant could come here next summer. It's wishful thinking, but you never know.

Probably.  Still might be worth pitching Griffin, though I might actually prefer to have Hayward given where the league is headed.

Millsap, Ibaka, and Gallinari are second tier considerations.  Wouldn't make the team a contender but could solidify the frontcourt for a few years.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

He's also the best White American basketball player in the world. Say what you will but in Boston they would go crazy for him.

If we are lucky enough that he would leave the Jazz for the Celtics we should welcome him with open arms.

He's a more talented Evan Turner and we need offense. He makes the team deeper and Better.

I find it sad and embarassing but I agree. Boston would love Hayward a lot more because he's white.
Im not sure.  Bird and Brady were loved because they are two of the greatest ever.  What white guys have gotten love in Boston that didn't deserve it?  Do people like Olynyk more than IT?  No.  Did they like Lafrentz more than Pierce?  Pedroia more than Papi?  No.  If we got Kevin Love he would be despised by many.

I don't think Hayward would be cut any extra slack because he's white.

To me Noise, it's got little to do with getting slack, just actually getting a talented white dude in Beantown would bring out more fans, different Fan's and ultimately probably make more money for the franchise.

I'm White...and Old...but I don't care if every Celtic is Black...as long as they win...this BS with Hayward being more welcome here because he's white...sorry, no.

I doubt Danny's entire plan all this time, was to get Gordon Hayward...Pathetic, if it's all that happens.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

Dude, Nobody said more welcome, I said that we probably would make more money because of him which we probably would.

And we would probably be a better team, which we would.

I don't think any more people will buy tickets because  there is a pretty good white guy on the team.  Maybe you'd be onto something if it was a superstar... But then again we'd sell out with any superstar anyway.

I think it matters where you come from. There are a ton of racist people where I grew up and still are and don't like the nba because it's a " black sport" " they're all selfish proms donnas. They revel that the very white celts team in the 80's beat the more black laker team, they rooted against their own country when Lebron and Wade first went Olympic.

That comment is extremely outdated.

In what way? Just stating that he's the best American born player, (Not European) Its just a fact, that's all.
one of these is not like the other.  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

We've got Jae Crowder entering his prime, and we've used a #3 pick on Jaylen Brown. That is a pick where you expect at least a 50/50 chance of the player developing into an all-star or better. If Brown looks to be on the proper trajectory by year's end, I don't see Ainge burning a slot like that on a not quite all-star like Hayward, which would leave no minutes for Brown's development. The impact on our team will be marginal at best

I'd rather keep cap flexibility and roll with our homegrown guys than sign Hayward. He's solid, but won't make us a contender.

And he'll just command too much money.

Hayward is mainly a two guard though. If we could sign Hayward and move Smart for Noel and afford everyone that would be ideal.

 Noel
 Horford
 Crowder
 Hayward
 Thomas

 Zizic
 Yabu
 Brown
 Bradley

He is? I thought he was a pretty natural three that could play some small-ball 4. I'm not sure that he has the foot speed and lateral quickness to be a full time 2.
