i love what gerald green brings, the wow factor that the celts lost with jeff green
i hope he hits his threes and his improving defense will be reinforced with avery crowder and smart s
i only had to watch some tape of isaiah with green and my imagination took off -this guy loves pace and transition
and then the 10yrs of experience as a high flyer can only benefit jaylan
brad is already starting his campaign for green, as a dangerous guy that puts up points real fast
isaiah said he is a lights out shooter,if you got isaiahs trust you get the ball, back door cuts and corner threes just what the celts need

His ability to fall asleep for every backdoor cut is what impresses me the most...

I don't mind taking a flier on him, but not expecting much.

according to miami press through dec. there was nothing but praise for his defense as green himself states he is now focusing and guarding other teams best players-he was keeping them below their avg-not by much
its a one year contract and brad gets another reclamation project
it will be interesting to see what he does on such a defensive oriented team with brad orchestrating his role

Yeah that didn't last and he fell out of the rotation and had a solidly negative impact on their team both offensive and defensively overall last year.

He's fine as an end of bench guy to add some shooting, but he's not guarding anyone. Nor does he add much else offensively.

I don't think you are being fair with Green.  Individual  IQ  doesn't change, but teamwork makes up Team IQ.  That's on the coaches.....
His defense has improved. And lets not talk about the Celtics who lose their man back door. That's everyone with the exception of Avery Bradley...... Bradley only loses his man when he goes for steals, or overplays the passing lane.

I watched alot of Gerald Green's games in Phoenix and in Miami.
He was significantly better player than his stay as a Celtic.
Fact is. Ainge wanted to sign him last year. If he shoots threes and slashes. We've added something, we don't have.

In Miami, he fell out of favor because the management team made a commitment to develop  Winslow.(after all he was rumored to be worth quite a few number one picks....heh)
And Joe Johnson was supposed to be the playoff answer in a half-court set.
With the number of people that Ainge could have signed this year, he chose Gerald.
I think we are all going to be pleasantly surprised. Or he won't be here by the Feb deadline.

I tend to agree.  I did not think he looked good last year.  I think he will be at the end of the bench and Jaylen will get more time than some on this board think.  We will need him to guard SFs and bigger SGs and I don't think Green is up to that.

It's really not though.  We have a lot of good defenders.  Crowder, Smart, and Amir are not losing guys back door all the time.

I don't think we need Gerald Green.  It is going to mean we have to cut Young or Hunter.  Young or Hunter is no big loss it just doesn't seem worth it for Green.  If Danny can make a trade, fine, i have no problem with Gerald Green.  It just seems like a waste to sign Green to sit on the bench while cutting someone with a guaranteed contract.

Would not be surprised to see him released or traded.

Don't see him helping us. At all.

Every player makes defensive mistakes, Gerald Green consistently makes them in transition and off the ball however which drives coaches nuts. Lack of effort plays, lack of focus. He tries more than he used to.

He's a better player now than his first stint on the C's, he's clearly a NBA player now. I do not think the OP's expectations are in line with the reality of his play though. My own are very limited.

I'm not quite so pessimistic, and I don't think he'll be traded or released, – but he's a stopgap, and likely won't see a lot of minutes unless there are injuries. It's a long season.

The risk to Boston is minimal. The off court behavior last season sent his value into the tank, and they're only into him for a year.

Low expectations-check
Doubt in his ability-check
Wonder why he's here-check

Evan Turner or Gerald Green?

Good, now let's trust in Danny and let Brad go to work!!!

as the orginal post that read multiple articles in dec how well green was playing and what an asset he was and how he was helping win games
isaiah and green were the highest duo of the bench in league for suns and isaiah can make somone look good and be effective
i also quoted brad expressing that green was scary
i also said he brought the wow factor with his athleticism
i stated he will help jaylen as they are both high flyers a unique skill and he knows how to use it
i don't see anything out of ordinary -no predicting 15points a game or shutdown defense on durant
and i think young is gone -so  it would be bentils spot
we now have some jumpers jackson, rozier, green, jaylen and avery
it hurts watching kelly,amir,sully,zeller
it will not be long now to training camp in the meantime i have an active imagination that green fits into-he is fun
