I'm watching past dunk contests on NBATV, and I'm thinking Jaylen is the perfect rookie to get in the dunk contest this year. A lot of times they have a rookie in there, and he's the best candidate this year from the rookie class.

How do they choose who dunks in the contest? I'm guessing we have to get it trending on social media for awhile to make it a reality.

EDIT: And maybe KO, IT, or Bradley will finally get in the three point contest, too.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Definitely.  He definitely has the makeup of a dunk competitor.  It's usually young guys.  Maybe Gerald Green can give him some pointers.

Chriss and Brown are the perfect candidates for this year's class.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Gonna be hard to beat Lavine / Gordon. Green is still probably the best dunker on our own team. Perhaps if Brown is showing promise and is trending upwards, he will get an opportunity.

Good idea.  Jaylen may be too smooth for the dunk contest but wouldn't mind seeing Kobe 2.0.  Jaylen is a really good dunker but hope he works on his handle and shots more than Green did. Jaylen has a chance to not only be a really smooth and powerful dunker but also a great player.  Better than  Lavine and those guys.

I don't think Jaylen is a dunk contest dunker.  He seems to be more built as an in-game dunker like lebron.  Dunk contest seems to favor the thinner, bouncier types that can do more flashy dunks.  Like lebron, I see Jaylen just jump real high and throw it down with power.

Brown reminds me Kobe , who would remind people just when they thought he was soft or not focused to come up with a huge dunk during a game.

I don't think a contest like this is his gig.

He ll do like Pierce, Kobo ,and LeBron .....thrown down a big one in a game when your not expecting. Those are the best .

i think turner did a 360 to everyone amazement but he and avery have the right idea -a dunk is only worth 2 points, unless it is used to capiitalize domination  or get crowd/team into game-ive seen marcus all alone just put in a soft layup or a thunderous dunk like in atlanta
save the knees and wear and tear

I am with you Rollie! Save the knees and wear & tear.

Many of us remember Tony Allen tearing his ACL on an after whistle dunk (iirc 2006 - 2007).  Paul Pierce has injured and Tony had a great 14 to 16 game run, leading the team in scoring several of those games, then the knee blow out.

Give me a Hondo type layup any day of the week.
