Whoop Whoop! Per 40, College number Brown beat Wiggins in Points per gane, Rebounds and assists.

Their 2p% were almost the same and Wiggins beat him at 3p%.      .341% to .294%

 Per 40

 Wiggins 20.8 ppg 7.1 rpg 1.9 apg

J. Brown 21.2 ppg 7.9 rpg 2.9 apg

Very similar numbers and should be noted that Brown was sharing the load with Rabb another top 10 pick.

Let's not forget Wiggins was sharing his minutes with Embiid, a top 3 pick.

However, to see this comparison is very encouraging. I think brown's gonna be a star in a few years, and I can't wait to see him evolve. TP for the research

To be fair, Brown did play with another likely lottery pick himself. Rabb would have probably gone in the top 8-10, but he decided to stay in college.

Honestly Wiggins is a cautionary tale for super-athletic wings with meh college stats. He has not been very good in the NBA.

That's an exaggeration. Wiggins scored 21 ppg last year at 20 years old. If that's cautionary, then I'll take it.

I'd fall off my chair if Brown could do that next year. Jaylen will be a better rebounder and defender than Wiggins no doubt in my mind.

If he could equal or surpass Wiggins as a scorer, than he's a 5X all star in the making.

He's been good!  PER of 16.5...  Better than advertised.  On the other hand his strength was supposed to be individual defense, which he has NOT fulfilled on.  Go figure.  Should be interesting this year if he can realize some of THAT potential; they've already got Rubio, Aldrich, and Dieng - and if Towns and Wiggins can start defending at a high rate they're going to be tough to score on.

Cautionary in the sense that a lotta CB guys would have a LOT of old posts to try to delete.

Don't system, program, conference, competition and surrounding talent make a dramatic different in College statistics?

I'm with Larbird33 it's also worth mentioning that Wiggins played 32 MPG to Jaylen's 27. Not a huge fan of using per 40 stars to put one player against another playing more minutes. Who's to say that Jaylen's per minute production wouldn't suffer if he had to play 5 extra minutes a game like Wiggins did.

Appreciate the optimism and original take KGLL but I don't really see too much of a correllation just yet. Wiggins hasn't showed enough to think that he is 100% guaranteed to be a better NBA player than Jaylen, but if I had to pick between the two I would definitely still take Wiggins... though not by as much as you'd think if you were only looking at college hype.

 Tp for the comment Smartacus.

The point is Wiggins was dubbed "the best prospect since Durant" by many Experts.

Brown looks to be a similar player and athlete. Wiggins the more talented scorer and I think he's more Explosive, longer and more wirey than Brown.

Where Brown looks to be potentially a better teammate, Defender, rebounder, stronger build. With similar offensive Upside.

We may have the better team player freak athlete, time will tell.

He hasn't been terrible, but definitely not as good as advertised. The defense piece is huge. People were talking about him like he had 1st team defensive potential, in reality he's been a sieve. Offensively he's been able to get buckets, but not super efficiently. His advanced stats are poor: negative VORP in both of his first two years.

If we are considering fit and system factoring in, that's more points towards Jaylen as he had a bad fit in Cal.  No spacing for a pure slasher.

Of course though Kansas and California weren't all that much different in many of those.  But Wiggins was unquestioned the #1 scoring option on his team taking 3 more shots per game then the next closest guy.  Brown was 2nd on his team in shots per game by over a shot a game.

Of course Brown wasn't a better 2P%, 3P%, or foul shooter, so I'm not sure where the OP is getting his numbers from.  That BTW, leads to a significant difference in TS% (around 4%).

In regard to the comments about Wiggins' defense, for those who haven't watched him that much and are going by his underwhelming advanced stats, he is a good on ball defender. He always gets the opposing teams best wing and usually does a pretty good job on them. It's off ball and team defense where he has been atrocious, but so was the whole Timberwolves team (besides Rubio). A lot of the blame has fell on Sam Mitchell, because basically every young player struggled with defense under him. Don't be at all surprised if you see Wiggins, Towns, Lavine, and Muhammad's defensive numbers look way better under Thibs.
