With the 5th pick in the fourth round, Dallas selects Marcin Gortat...

...a player that current Dallas GM, Gainesville Celtic, selected with pick 15.14 of his first Celticsblog Draft (c. 2008).

How on earth did you remember that?

I've always remembered that i got Gortat in the 15th round b/c it seemed like a steal (it was the summer before he became a legit NBA player (he was coming of a 6-game season, but living in Fla. I follow the Magic a bit closer than other non-Celtic teams).

Truth be told i just opened my nerdy 2008 CBD excel file to see exactly what pick.

I think he's being punished for the relative depth of athletic defensive centers. The talent seems so much thinner 2-4 to me.

I think he's being punished for the relative depth of athletic defensive centers. The talent seems so much thinner 2-4 to me.

I think the center spot has been the deepest position in this draft. Lot of quality there.

I don't think the PG position is as deep as it was a few years ago. Still strong but not as strong.
