Is it possible Danny & management are attempting to resign Isaiah Thomas early a la James Harden extension?

This would seem to make a lot of sense. They reward him by resetting his salary higher than what it would've been this/next year while creating negotiation leverage for the annual average value. It's a win/win given he is set to make a combined $13m over the next 2 years. It's a perfect quid pro quo situation for Danny.

They could be. I think I'd rather just enjoy him on the super cheap contract for now though. He'll eventually either need to be replaced by an upgrade in overall talent, or take a backseat to superior players.

Paying him more now limits short term opportunities and commits to him longer term. The Celtics can always pay him whatever he's looking for later if they haven't found the talent to replace him by then. No need to rush it now.

Possible. But if you were Avery Bradley how would you react to Thomas getting an extension while you stay on your super cheap contract?
