Yes practice. Not a game... practice. How would you pit the players against each other 5 vs 5 the A and B teams. Then 4 vs 4 vs 4.

5 vs 5
IT vs  Rozier
Smart  vs  AB
Brown vs Crowder
Hordford vs JJ
KO vs AJ

4 vs 4 vs 4
IT vs Rozier vs Jackson
Smart vs Hunter vs AB
Brown vs Crowder vs JJ
AJ vs KO vs Hordford

Edit add wonder if starters vs bench would be competitive?
IT vs Rozier
AB vs Smart
Crowder vs Brown
Hordford vs JJ
KO vs AJ

IT vs Rozier vs Jackson
Hunter vs Smart vs AB
Crowder vs Young vs Brown
Mickey vs Hordford vs JJ
AJ vs KO vs Zeller

Aren't starters usually pitted against the bench? I mean, players need to develop some sort of on court chemistry. It helps if they practice together.

The Celts have traditionally run the White Team (starters) vs. The Green Team (bench).  There's a great one-hour piece on ESPN (I think) about the 1986 season where Bill Walton led the Green Team against the White Team.

If BS pairs Smart with IT during practice, we can give up any hope Smart will ever develop into a ballhandler =/

For the most part they do but that gets old so they mix up the lineups for different looks. Usually it's only one or two guys switch teams. But no matter what the try to get a lot of combinations together just incase of injury. You have to make sure guys can step up.
