Sounds like Jeff Green is a good comp
If Jeff Green is a good comp for JB then we should trade him as soon as possible.
I think the hope is that he ends up being a rich man's Jeff Green in a few years. Jeff Green with better defense and more aggressiveness - which could actually be a star.
I really hope folks realize this is going to take time, though. He's really raw and might shoot under 30% this season. You'll need to have patience.
I realize the playing time may be limited at first and it may take some time but if the end result is Jeff Green I will honestly puke. Jeff Green bores me. It's like he goes through the motions but doesn't care - he's like a very rich man's James Young.
the thing is he could be Jeff Green minus the things that you hate about Jeff Green. Jaylen Brown certainly cares and doesnt just go through the motions.
I hope so. From what I have seen so far he does seem to have passion and intelligence. It's a good start.
He's not as good as Jeff Green yet. It's something to aim for. Green played 3 years of College ball and was likely further along than Jaylen as a rookie.
I assume Jaylen is going to struggle in a big way as a rookie. I hope he can do enough to stay in the big league, though. He'll learn more playing with these guys than he will spending a season in D-League.

i just mean this year. We have a lot of players who can play. If he struggles, they might want to have him get reps in Maine, but I hope he can stick around. He'll learn a lot in practice going against pros and playing under Stevens. It's not a lock, though. He's really raw.
I honestly have no expectations about young players even getting on the court, let alone receiving consistent playing time, anymore, aside from Maine, unfortunately 
, which I don't think is good for player development, but whatever. #doitonyourowntime 
We are kinda counting on him to earn that backup SF role. I dont trust Hunter there, certainly dont trust Young and I dont want to see Marcus playing there too extensively. We also saw that Jerebko is a mess at the 3. I also dont see Abdel Nader being on the roster.
Also, I think to a point you are right about Brads unwillingness to play young guys, but I think it is a bit overblown. When hes had too, hes played them. They just havent been ready.
Kelly averaged 20 minutes his rookie year, Smart averaged 27. Now Mickey and Rozier and Young and Hunter all got pushed to the back of the bench, but Young and Hunter have done their best to prove Brad right. So now the critique comes down to Rozier and Mickey. Rozier was stacked behind Smart Thomas Bradley and Turner who all played heavy minutes at the guard positions. I cant really fault Brad for failing to work Rozier into the roatation there. So the only guy you can fault him on is really Jordan Mickey and I suppose you could make the argument that Mickey looked lost in his few opportunities because he didnt get any consistent time, but I dont think thats a big enough deal to really kill Stevens for.
As for Brown, we pretty badly need someone to eat minutes at the 3 and his athletic ability and work ethic(which may or may not be a real thing. Remember when james young developed into a Greek God last summer) I expect him to establish himself as a OK enough defender to stay in the lineup.
Young is still going to be on the team next year?
Ugh. I do get that they're probably expecting Brown to be the backup 3, but you never know. Stevens has had Smart, there, before

And, yeah, I'm probably overstating Stevens' unwillingness to play the young guys, but it doesn't feel that way, lol. Plus, even though Hunter probably isn't big enough to play the 3, we'd need more shooting out there from the back court, regardless of whether Rozier or Smart is out there. I think that Hunter will be fine. You can already tell that he'd added some bulk to his torso. Unfortunately, it looks like he skipped leg day, lol

As for Mickey, well, I've never been a fan of his, but I thought that he could have helped us, defensively, in terms of having a shotblocker back there, last year, but with Horford's arrival and the continued presence of Amir, I don't see him getting any time. What also doesn't make sense, to me, is why they'd give Mickey such a hefty contract and then not play him at all, you know? I think that that's a fair criticism. I mean, he could wake up one day and realize, "hey, wait a minute, I'm getting paid the then-richest contract in history for a second round pick (iirc) to essentially play in the d-league? Why bother busting my butt when I'm going to keep gettin' dem checks?" lol
. I realize that that's a bit out there, like most, if not everything, of what I post on here, lol
, but I would worry about that, potentially. I mean, at this point, the first question a reporter should ask any of our draft picks is, "are you packed for Maine?"
I just hate how coaches always say that so-and-so is going to get plenty of minutes this year, only to never follow through on that promise. Do they honestly think that people don't see that they're just talking out of their ass when they say such stuff, lol
, because they might as well just say, "He'll be getting plenty of playing time this year...in the d-league."
Oh yeah, and Brown better at least have a great work ethic, or I'm going to be even more ticked off, lol
. Not that that matters, of course, but still. I hope that he does well, but I no longer have any expectations for any of our young guys, as I said
. Sigh. We'll see what happens, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I just hope that Stevens doesn't park Brown in the corner on offense like he's a 3 year old in a timeout, lol
, and I also hope that Brown doesn't get caught up in the nauseating amount of threes we take and just plays
his game, whatever that is, exactly, at this point
