In 14 seasons he scored 14,437 points and had 14,465 rebounds for career averages of exactly 15.0 ppg and 15.0 rpg. I love that. At his peak in the late 60's he was a 20-20 guy.

It's sad that he was traded in '74 so he didn't get a chance to win a ring with that '75 Warriors team. I always liked reading about him though. He seemed like he was a tough, defense-first competitor who got it done on both ends.

74 is not very old.

For you youngsters out there, Kareem called Nate Thurmond the best defender he ever played against.

More than solid, he was a really good center who could compete favorably in an era where centers dominated the game.  Had to go up against Wilt, Kareem, Wes Unseld, Willis Reed, Dave Cowens, Artis Gilmore and more.

Condolences to his family.

The first (official) and one of the very few quadruple-doubles ever recorded.  22/14/13 with 12 blocks.  Underrated great of the past.
