RJ Hunter is still a better passer and ball handler and shot a much higher percentage from deep in Summer League, but he's clearly too limited athletically to be a threat to get to the rim or play high level defense.

Will Hunter make any impact on the floor this year?  I think we could let both these guys go and never worry about them coming back to haunt us.

To me there's a 1% chance letting Young go will haunt us.  He just doesn't seem to do much well.  Hunter, on the other hand, I'd like to see him for one more year before deciding.  He's a smart/heady player who will thrive in an ball-movement offense.  If he can really start nailing his deep shots, he's definitely someone this team needs.

I'd say they're both pretty disappointing at this point. Hunter probably gets another year. Young is at risk.

If a trade is made, good chances both are gone in it.

Hunter is fine, imo, and I love his passing ability.  I just wish that they'd run him off of picks instead of just having him stand in the corner, lol, and his defense is pretty good, imo, as his length does significantly aid in this department.  Leave Young and Thornton at the slot machines, or at Young's hairdresser, lol ::) ;D. Ugh.

It doesn't matter. It's like saying Young is better than Thornton. In the end, I wouldn't flinch if both got cut from the team.

I don't see why we'd keep either one past this year, and we may very well give up a late second rounder and one of them this season just to clear space.

Both have been disappointments imo

Nader is ahead of both. And Nader is a better/reliable shooter (just by SL performance)

I must be the only person who prefers James Young to RJ Hunter at this point, and it wasn't that way going into the summer league for me.  People complain about Young's defense, and rightfully so, but Hunter's is worse.  He got caught out of position all the time, leading to a lot of fouls.  On offense, he turned it over a decent amount, and I thought his shot selection wasn't always good.

Now, maybe Hunter was asked to do more, and that led to worse results.  I don't know.  But I did think Young performed his role better than Hunter performed his own.

But I don't like either, and hope both get traded.  I don't see either ever being key contributors to playoff teams.

:o. Did you not see when RJ really got after Booker and even blocked his shot, iirc?  At least the effort is there, with Hunter, imo, and it's nice to see him knocking his shots down, while Young has nothing but a new nose ring to show for his summer league 'performance' ::), imo.  He still can't even dribble. *facepalm*

I do think that RJ could potentially really help us off of the bench, this year, but we'll see what happens.  Hopefully, Young doesn't even make it to training camp.  Ugh.  What a waste of a pick.

You're not completely alone. I'm more ready to move away from Hunter than I'm from Young.

I still have faith in RJ, I think he will continue to improve on defense and is more than capable of being a catch and shoot guy with better creators on the floor.

If no trade happens before the season we could be an injury away from play Young, Hunter or Nader in the 2nd unit.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Hunter can ball, there's no question about that.  I just don't think he'll be able to build enough physically to compete at this level. Mickey can play, too ... but same issue.
