I don't expect much out of smart going forward other than dropping the hero shots. It's not his fault he's not a great athlete and to me his shot is junk. But he's a great bench guy to have. I just think he should be looked at as a very good  bench contributor that can give you good d on a shooting guard and a small forward and make a couple big plays. He's just not gonna be a star. ( opinion)

thanks to Oracle we go from 28th in the League to around 16 if you simply drop Smart's historically bad Shooting numbers, throw in Turner and Sully who are gone and we are right around 35% from three which is not bad.

Bottom line with Sully and Turner gone if we can get smart to drive more and take better shots it should really help are 3 point efficiency.

Smart was 61 makes and 241 attempts last year that must be improved upon.

Wouldn't every teams numbers be better if you took out their worst shooters?

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.

Depends on How you define Star. He was the star in a couple of playoff games. He is a better athlete than people give him credit for being. I think he makes an All Star team for sure.

Technically, if you also take away ET and Sully, who shot 24.1% and 28.2%, respectively, we end up being 35.4%.

Taking away ET and Sully and leaving Smart, we end up being 34.2%, which isn't bad. KO was our best in terms of 3P%, and he took a bit fewer 3P shots than Smart. If KO took a bit more and Smart improves on his shot selection, then we are in a good spot.

I said it before that our success next season will depend on whether Smart is the real deal or a more offensively challenged Tony Allen.

I honestly can't express too much confidence that he's going to get it done for us...  we only seen flashes here and there but they are few and far in-between so much lackluster play... if only basketball was like football in where the offense unit comes out when the other team gets their turn at offense... I would want Smart in my secondary, if yall catch my drift...

Just so that I understand.. Our Success does not depend on Sully not being lazy and unreliable down the Stretch, Bradley staying healthy, KO finding more Confidence, Crowder's continued Improvement (and not having a bad wheel down the Stretch) IT getting better on defense, Horford being a stable scoring option.. Rozier and Young/Hunter taking the next step..  Marcus continuing to be a force on Defense..   None of that matters if Marcus Smart can't turn into a 20 point scorer, 39% 3 point shooter in the league??

Without Smart's defense, are we also middle of the pack?

I think that's Ed Hollison's point. No sarcasm involved. Scinton used chromosomes instead of body parts; thus keeping it family friendly.

Tp Bro, If that's true. That takes us all the way to the #13 ranked team in the NBA right behind Utah at .355%.

This is very realistic with two players that shot bad gone. D Wade figured out he sucks at three's and he stopped taking them.

Smart needs to really improve his % or drive and dish more, and learn those Tony Parker floaters.

This proves my point that many people are wrong that we don't have three point shooters, we do.
