Beck is on csn now backtracking on what he said. Just his own rational and what has already been reported that Presti would rather trade Westbrook and the celtics have a lot of assets. I can't believe csn has been talking about this all day when there is absolutely no word from the Celtics that they are interested. No way the celtics trade for a player that isn't going to sign an extension. Getting that all to work is also not that easy. Beck is just speculating.
I agree in theory that if we put together a team Westbrook might sign an extension but there is no word the celtics are even interested here.
Well, maybe this is your own fault for misinterpreting what he said.
Here's the video:
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2651708-westbrook-trade-will-happen-sooner-rather-than-later-likely-to-celticsHe never said the Celtics are in trade talks or anything like that, and he certainly went farther than saying that "Presti would rather trade Westbrook and the celtics have a lot of assets."
This is what he said. Rival GM's think that:
A) there's a very strong suspicion that Westbrook intends to leave OKC (most likely true);
B) given Presti's history and the context of what just happened with Durant, if there's even a suspicion of Westbrook wanting to leave, then Presti will trade him (most likely true);
C) a Westbrook trade would happen sooner rather than later, as in before the season (most likely true);
D) the Celtics are the most likely destination due to how many assets that they have where they can trade future assets and young prospects and still have a title contender around Westbrook (assets part is true - just depends on how interested Ainge is).
Thus, it's not like this was ever truly something that was out of thin air. Rather, this just affirms several things that most people thought - Westbrook is probably a goner next summer if they keep him; Presti won't risk that chance again after Durant; and the C's are a legitimate option for him due to their situation.
I don't see what's so "out there" about this report..
