I’m hearing that the Westbrook to Boston deal is basically in place and now just waiting on the final details to be worked out.

@jsor21 Yeah, it’s for the 2018 Nets pick and odds and ends.

Notice the IF. Good chance that OKC might keep him until the deadline in Feburary.

Can we stop believing that random no-name twitter accounts somehow have the inside scoop to the biggest deals in the NBA?

That's what I thought.  People like to twist stories to make news.

For me, getting stuck with Horford assures us we'll never beat gs in a series so that's why I'd consider bringing Westbrook in at s shot at beating the cavs. The only reason I wanted Horford was to get Durant. I've been called dumb here and other places just for asking if it was possible to now move Horford. I realise how that could look but I think maxing horford( even though I can't blame the celts for swinging for the fences) is going to be why we have no chance at beating gs in a series.
Anything is possible and mind you, this is just an opinion. So anyone getting really angry at this viewpoint I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm not trying to upset anybody and it's clearly a tiny, tiny, minority opinion.
Yeah I also strongly disagree with that opinion but to each his own. However that makes the rest of your post even more baffling.

If you think we dont have a chance to win a championship wouldnt you want to hold on to what is likely a top 5 pick next year and conservatively a lotto pick the next? Theres no way we get Russ without giving up at least one of those.

What am I missing. You dont believe the next few years we will be contenders no matter what, so you plan to mortgage the future so we can still not be contenders? sounds absurd to me.

You're making too much sense! Ha. You're right. I guess it's just me reluctantly getting on board with what the celts are doing because if not Westbrook I see them using the picks on another guy that also won't get us to beat g.s.  Once the ball goes up game 1 I can't help but be a fanatic. I've been driving myself nuts about Durant messing up the league and me feeling we are going to win now at whatever cost. So I've just given up and hoping I'm proven wrong.

Well, don't you need some credibility to run an SB Nation site?

Russell Westbrook is arguably a top 5 player in the league. IT is arguably top 20. I do any deal 10/10 times that brings us Westbrook, including draft picks that could/could not result in a transformative player. Horford is 30, so I'm not sure why we gave him so much money unless we're interested in winning in the short-medium term. A team full of 19 year olds helps us win in the long term. If Danny's strategy is to contend in the next 5 years, Westbrook is a player that would be hard to beat. I like him more than Griffin, Cousins, etc.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

No.  You don't need credibility to be on tv or the radio either or write the news.  You just have to be good at creating it.

But I'd be lying if there wasn't a smidgen of me that believes Sanny can somehow do the impossible. Being a celts fan is a wonderful/ painful addiction.

Presti's back is against the wall. I bet Ainge is doing him a favor by greenlighting the rumor to create some juice for Presti's position, and there's a standing lowball offer of last resort from Ainge but Presti is only using it to try to drive up the price elsewhere, but then lo and behold when push comes to shove and time is running out it'll turn out that Ainge's lowball offer is actually competitive, much to Presti's disappointment, because every team will be treating Westbrook like a pure rental because that's what he actually is, and so Ainge adds a spoonful of prospect sugar and draft pick gravy, and voila, we get Westbrook for what seems like robbery to most of the NBA fanbase but for what we see as a fair price for a rental, except for a faction of binkie fanatics or whatever. I like the framework of the double idea walker834 posted, but I think the Clippers would ultimately need a bit less and the Thunder would wind up needing significantly less. Something like this...

Griffin for Crowder + 18 Nets 1st + Memphis 1st + 3rd string prospects + 2nd round picks

Westbrook for Isaiah + 18 Celtics 1st + Clippers 1st + 3rd string prospects +  2nd round picks

We not only keep Smart and Brown, we also keep the potential #1 pick next year.

But let's be even greedier. Doc wants Crowder? Tough. He'll take Amir and Kelly and like it, lol, because it's all about getting a Brooklyn 1st, a caliber of asset that no other team interested at all in going-for-it-now has. We have two of them, so teams want the better one or both. Tough! Ask around the league for a better available pick, then. Nope! None, not one. All trading-superstar roads lead to us. So...

Westbrook/Rozier/Jackson
Bradley/Smart/Hunter
Crowder/Brown/Young
Griffin/Yabusele/Bentil
Horford/Mickey/Zizic

I'm imagining rapid development from Brown, though, him earning a starting spot and winning some ROY votes. And I'm expecting a leap to adequate all-around shooting from Smart and more confidence on his drives, thereby pushing him ahead in the lineup. And so I'm imagining Bradley and Crowder turning into super-subs, the best 6th man and 7th man in the league.

Westbrook/Rozier/Jackson
Smart/Bradley/Hunter
Brown/Crowder/Young
Griffin/Yabusele/Bentil
Horford/Mickey/Zizic
"Young man, you have the question backwards." - Bill Russell

"My guess is that an aggregator of expert opinions would be close in terms of results to that of Danny." - Roy H.

OMG Smitty has no clue.  Please stop quoting him.  He's been making up stuff for years.

Well, that's probably a matter of opinion but what's stopping a guy from spreading gossip on, arguably, the biggest NBA trade of the year (that non of the so called mainstream guys are talking about) just to bring in clicks & to pump up their own brand?
