I've been watching the celtics and the news for years here. Reporters and legit do not go together.  I don't care if they say they are. They report anything and everything and make stories out of nothing.
Bob Ryan all of them. They are terrible.

Legit and rumor is an oxymoron in and of itself.

I think now is the time to trade for Westbrook for a couple reasons:
1. Isaiah is starting to demand a lot more than he is worth and if we package up him for a player like Westbrook we wouldn't have to give up as much picks.
2. The Thunder are desperate and looking to cash out.

Send over:
Isaiah Thomas
Jaylen Brown
Jonas Jerebko
Brooklyn's 2018 pick
Clippers 2019 pick

For:
Westbrook

PG: Russell Westbrook
SG: Avery Bradley
SF: Jae Crowder
PF: Amir Johnson
C: Al Horford

Honestly to me that's a winning squad. Sign some other vets to fill in holes and you got yourself a championship team.

I imagine a reasonable price would be OKC choosing one from each of the following:

Pot A: Brooklyn Picks

Pot B: Smart or Brown

Pot C: Thomas, Bradley, or Crowder

ex) 2018 BKN pick + Marcus Smart + Jae Crowder + Jerebko (to make the money work)

Great words from a great man

Naw. You gotta keep Thomas and brown. One of rozier, Bradley or smart, nets pick and then one other player

Bradley Brook 17 Hunter and Memphis 19 for Westbrook

Brook 18 Celtics 18 Another future first KO Amir for Cousins

Westbrook/Smart/Crowder/Horford/Cousins IT/Brown/Jonas/Mickey to start the bench mob.

This would be giving up the C's pick in two straight years and I don't believe that is allowed.
yup. Not allowed. You have to pull either Brooklyn or Celtics '18 to fit the deal within league rules.

Westbrook is leaving there.  I wouldn't trade anything for him.  Trade for Cousins or Griffin and he'll just sign here.

Or just trade for another late 2017 or 2018 pick

Boston isn't giving up 2 of their own picks. Only Boston 18

It makes some sense on the surface where Smart could go back to oklahoma and we give up a pick.  Isaiah and Westbrook could work together but I also think it would be weird how we would be constructed. Is aiah and a pick could go in a deal.  We could ship Crowder in some 3 way deal for Griffin etc.

But I'll believe it when I see it.  This could all be a ploy from other teams trying to drum up interest particularly OKC saying we are interested and have the assets because they know they are going to lose him to LA.

The celtics entertain certain things sometimes it becomes news when it's not.

All this stuff like "we are the frontrunner" could just be OKC trying to set his value.

Trading IT, the face of the franchise, the reason that Horford is here would be pretty disingenuous of the Cs right now.

The whole organization would look like classless, disloyal fools.

This summer there have been a lot of star players hitting the trade and FA markets. Boston is a good young team with tons of assets and cap room and an aggressive general manager. Thus they are going to  be a front-runner for every star to become available. We were supposedly a frontrunner for Howard then never got a meeting. As a reporter it is entirely logical to list the Celtics as your "frontrunner" for Westbrook because like any other star to hit the market we have the assets and the aggressive GM to get it done.

I completely believe BR when they report Westbrook could be dealt soon. However, I think the idea that we are the frontrunners is more speculation based in solid logic rather than fact being passed on to the reporters.

The rule is simply that you must have a draft pick every other year, not specifically your own.

You realize there are 29 other teams in the league besides the Celtics, right?

Westbrook is an Alpha Type who wants to be the Alpha in Los Angeles.. Thats all we are saying.. He will not Sign and extension this year because it makes Zero sense to. That leaves anybody who signs him hoping, praying and begging that he resigns after you gave up the Farm for him.. Thats a Risk that a GM should lose his job over if they lost that gamble.

Well, I actually agree with this part completely. What I'm objecting to the is the "ball hog" / "not that good" crowd that wants to paint him as no more than a guy who shoots way too much. It's not my preferred style either, but the results are still outstanding. Westbrook/Bradley/Crowder might not be far behind Westbrook/Roberson/Durant, and we certainly have loads more depth than OKC past that.

I saw a twitter user say a westy to boston is pretty much done for nets 18 pick, and celtics trying to get griffin with nets 17 pick and others
