Not a fan of Westbrook at all.  And if they are going to trade for him, doesn't IT have to be in the move?   They are basically the same player.
in a vacuum, I would think IT would be part of the trade based on exchanging similar players but the thing that comes to mind from an OKC viewpoint is why would they want IT?  if Westbrook is traded, they're in rebuild mode and would presumably want building blocks like good young players and draft picks.

I could see them asking for Smart, Brown, maybe Rozier too and at least one of the Brooklyn picks and another first at a minimum.  whether or not that's acceptable to Danny is another question.

Not acceptable. Absolutely not. Won't happen. Westbrook's on a one year deal n bolts for LA next year. Then we lose Brown and draft picks plus lose IT for a one year rental. I'm all set let LA trade their future for Westbrook. I like him as a player but to throw away our future for one year of his service ? Nope

Durant knows no shame. Ha. But I do think Westbrook has more guts for whatever it's worth.

I’m hearing that the Westbrook to Boston deal is basically in place and now just waiting on the final details to be worked out.

When did Bleacher report actually become a reliable source?  Also odd we have heard nothing from the Celtics about this.

They have legit reporters there.  Beck is legit.

Ok so you CAN'T get written assurance that he'll stay? Elsewhere they were telling me you absolutely could. Grr. Frustrating. I'd sell the farm if he was staying but , right, ya can't risk it if he can bolt. Bummer.

I like Westbrook as a player, but it's just wrong to give up any assets for him.

Westbrook is one of the prime examples of how the rule changes have benefitted athletic scoring PGs, but that also means that whatever he can give you can be somewhat replicated by lesser, and more importantly, cheaper players (see IT). The NBA is loaded at the PG position.

I think in general, Westbrook has become incredibly overrated by being the guy who stole all these shot attempts from KD on national TV. He's good, but not BRK pick good.

So Jaylen Brown will be better? Our next two Nets picks could be the 5th pick and the 7th pick for all we know.

I'll take fifth next year.  One of the deepest drafts in history.  Could get a substantial player throughout the lottery.

Fair enough.

The only thing you pass up a likely (if indeed "likely" is correct) future superstar for is a current superstar.   The only question is whether one thinks Westbrook is a superstar.

Frankly, I think it's hard to argue against him being a top ten player in the league. By most observers accounts he is top 5.

The ONLY question I have is whether (and why) people here think the our current team with Westbrook is as good as (I'll take as good as) OKC 2015-16.  If there is a rationale that convinces me that our current team with Westbrook is as good as last year's OKC team, then I am on board without hesitation.   Last year's OKC team was definitely good enough to win a title.

If we are still a player away, I have some hesitation -- reason being I don't know where that player comes from and we've expended our best future assets (presuming it will take both Brooklyns to get him).   With no Westbrook and the Brooklyn picks in hand, it is definitely possible that the picks increase in value at trade deadline or after the 2017 lottery.  Concurrently, DA can add through free agency.

Still these rumors are getting absurd.  The reports have been wrong on every one. I don't doubt the celtics try for certain things but this is nothing new as far as reporting being completely wrong all the time.

It makes some sense on the surface where Smart could go back to oklahoma and we give up a pick.  Isaiah and Westbrook could work together but I also think it would be weird how we would be constructed. Is aiah and a pick could go in a deal.  We could ship Crowder in some 3 way deal for Griffin etc.

 But I'll believe it when I see it.  This could all be a ploy from other teams trying to drum up interest particularly OKC saying we are interested and have the assets because they know they are going to lose him to LA.

The celtics entertain certain things sometimes it becomes news when it's not.

All this stuff like "we are the frontrunner" could just be OKC trying to set his value.

Brk 18 Smart or brown, Amir and future picks ( not brk 17)

If that gets it done great, but if we don't have assets left to make another move(Cousins,Griffin,Butler), a trade for Westbrook would make little sense.

Just looking at our main competition in Cleveland

Westbrook= Irving
Horford=    Love

Missing a 3rd star who can come close to matching Lebrons production.

Don't want to give up our best assets for a possible 1 year rental that doesn't even put us in the finals.

This would be giving up the C's pick in two straight years and I don't believe that is allowed.
